OVERVIEW
This full-time contract Senior VoIP-Network Administrator assignment will provide support to the Unified Communications organization within the IT department. This assignment will support, assist, and design corporate networking connectivity in an Internet/intranet environment. Network components such as routers, switches, sniffers are used to ensure a high performing infrastructure for application, web, mail and data activities. This assignment will lead the administration of corporate Voice/VoIP systems, designing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the system to ensure a 24/7 availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, configure and facilitate installation, operation, troubleshoot, maintain, and manage telecommunications equipment and/or services.
- Monitor VoIP systems and ancillary systems such as InformaCast, MicroCall, and Avtec. Respond to alerts and alarms from various tools. Work with support vendors to correct problems and return systems to normal operating mode.
- Perform advanced telecommunications administration tasks such as vulnerability assessments, security and bug patching, upgrades, analyzing call logs, and other complex troubleshooting of VoIP systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair failed SIP trunks and Call Management System issues. Validate QoS meets Voice communication integrity.
- Provide recommendations and advice to corporate manager/personnel in areas such as disaster recovery, capacity planning, for VoIP hardware strategy, and Voice/VoIP systems security.
- Develop and complete documented processes and procedures to instruct SME/personnel on administration of networked based Voice and VoIP systems for operational continuity.
- Recommend and implement configuration management plans to ensure secure and operational integration of complex VoIP systems.
- Develop and maintain vendor communication through use of corporate contracted support agreements; verify reliable service delivery of third-party Telecomm Circuits and the integration of complex networked voice communications management equipment and software.
- Design, configure and maintain logical network paths including VLANS, ACLS, IP Space addressing.
- Design, engineer, architect, upgrade, or enhance network component capabilities in response to network problems and deficiencies; e.g., degradation of service.
- Design, recommend, and implement monitoring solutions.
- Solve complex multi layered Voice end-point devices and network connectivity problems.
- Use the graphical or command line management interface to modify configurations such as IP routes and VLANs. In addition, track device performance, errors and traffic.
- Create and maintain network maps and data spreadsheets using Visio and Excel.
- Communicate various outage and problem status information to clients and technical information and task status to team.
- Serve as network administrator including responsibility for installing, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting LAN and WAN components such Session Border Controllers (SBCs) VoIP dedicated routers, voice gateways, and monitor with different media types and logical networks.
- Recommend and implement configuration management plans for secure, complex, high-reliability environment.
- Perform VoIP systems operation and performance monitoring.
- Recommend requirements for the acquisition of Voice and VoIP network hardware, software and services.
- Design network logical topology in a virtual environment in support of VoIP communications.
- Develop and complete Operational Process documentation in Operations & Maintenance guides as wells Process documentation
- Collaborate closely with Network Administration and SMEs to ensure proper support of VoIP system network connectivity.
- Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions. Location for on-call and backup support may be at corporate facilities or off-site. Required to carry a corporate supplied cell phone/pager and work non-core hours when requested.
- In the Event of a COOP Exercise or Incident, the contract worker will be required to work off site to provide production support per roles and responsibilities outlined in the corporate Organizational COOP Plans.
- Assist with maintaining filing system(s), files, emails and records in accordance with compliance requirements. File and disperse documents/letters only to appropriate personnel. Maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures. Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Corresponding Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology/Systems or closely-related STEM field is preferred
- With an Applicable Bachelor’s Degree in applicable fields, 11 years of experience is required.
- With an Applicable Associate’s Degree in applicable fields, 13 years of experience is required.
- Without a degree, 15 years of directly-related experience is required (10 years of that experience must be related Senior Network Administration experience).
- Applicable Certifications may count for 1 year of experience.
- Experience must include direct work experience in Computer/Information technology.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- 10+ years of experience with Network components, operation and maintenance concepts and methods
- 5+ years Network architecture principles, security principles, and concepts
- 10+ years of experience in LAN and WAN design principles and methods, including sub-nets, gateways, and firewalls
- 5+ years of experience with IP Trunk circuit integration
- 5+ years of experience in Transition and upgrading of network and VoIP integrated technologies
- 5+ years of experience in Configuration and change management of Cisco Voice Gateways, Session Border Controllers (SBC) VoIP routers
- Configuration or change management concepts
- 5+ years of experience in Network- VoIP integrated operation, performance, and planning
- 5+ years of experience in Voice and VoIP systems support in virtual environments
- Proficiency in various Network-based monitoring tools (e.g. RTMT, on VoIP network equipment where required
- Document VoIP and integrated Telecomm support activities.
- Evaluate SIP trunk performance data, local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to maintain sufficient availability of Voice and VoIP communications, and identify network-based problems impacting VoIP activity, or for disaster recovery purposes.
