SENIOR ACCESSIBILITY SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accessibility Specialist serves as a senior technical resource responsible for advancing accessibility across digital products and experiences while providing day-to-day guidance, oversight, and support to Accessibility Specialists and contract resources. This role partners with cross-functional teams to ensure websites, digital products, and related experiences are accessible, inclusive, and aligned with established accessibility standards and regulatory requirements. Working across design, development, and post-launch phases, the Senior Accessibility Specialist leads complex accessibility audits, supports accessibility strategy and conformance initiatives, provides technical leadership and mentorship, and helps strengthen accessibility standards, processes, documentation, and service offerings. This role serves as a trusted advisor to internal teams and clients while driving continuous improvement across the organization's accessibility practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead complex accessibility audits and assessments across websites, digital products, and digital experiences using a combination of automated and manual testing methods

  • Evaluate digital experiences against WCAG 2.2 standards and other applicable accessibility requirements, identifying barriers and providing practical remediation recommendations

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, technical guidance, mentoring, and quality oversight for Accessibility Specialists and contract resources

  • Support the development and implementation of accessibility strategies, standards, policies, documentation, and best practices across digital products and services

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility considerations throughout design, development, testing, implementation, and post-launch activities

  • Conduct accessibility testing using automated tools, manual testing methodologies, assistive technologies, keyboard navigation, and screen readers

  • Perform straightforward HTML and CSS accessibility remediations where appropriate and develop implementation guidance for development teams

  • Review wireframes, designs, prototypes, and development deliverables, providing accessibility annotations and recommendations within design systems and tools such as Figma

  • Present accessibility findings, remediation recommendations, progress updates, and service offerings to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders

  • Support accessibility training, education, onboarding, and awareness initiatives while promoting accessibility best practices across the organization

  • Collaborate with external partners and clients to address accessibility requirements and support accessibility conformance objectives

  • Monitor evolving accessibility regulations, technologies, and industry best practices to inform recommendations and strengthen organizational capabilities

  • Contribute to the development of accessibility resources, templates, tools, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality and client delivery


REQUIREMENTS

  • 4–7+ years of experience in digital accessibility, UX, front-end development, quality assurance, or related fields

  • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.2 standards and digital accessibility best practices

  • Experience conducting accessibility testing using automated tools and manual testing methodologies

  • Experience with accessibility testing platforms such as Siteimprove, Deque, UsableNet, or similar tools preferred

  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard navigation testing, and accessibility evaluation methodologies

  • Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS; working knowledge of JavaScript preferred

  • Experience implementing accessibility remediations and reviewing websites, digital products, user interfaces, and PDF documents for accessibility compliance

  • Familiarity with Figma and accessibility annotation practices preferred

  • Experience supervising or providing technical leadership to team members and/or contractors preferred

  • Experience working within cross-functional design and development teams; agency, digital product, or consulting experience preferred

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills

  • Relevant accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS, CPWA) preferred
