Onsite/Remote:Remote Position
This position is eligible for remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.
Your Responsibilities
As a Staff Engineer, Engine Oils for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Waterloo, IA as a remote role, you will:
- Define and execute engine oil technical strategy and roadmap (enterprise + aftermarket)
- Lead development and validation of new engine-oil formulations and performance improvements, including lab testing and field testing. Lead oil development for new applications (e.g. ethanol engines, alternative fuels)
- Interface with additive companies, oil blenders, external laboratories, and internal engineering partners. Foster ongoing business relationships within engine-oil industry.
- Provide technical support, issue resolution, and design guidance to engine-development teams. Provide technical and application support to engine-oil projects as a subject matter expert.

What Skills You Need
- 7 or more years of experience in a combination of: engine-oil development, lubrication engineering, fluid validation/testing, engine-application development
- Understanding of fluids/material compatibility with metals, elastomers, polymers, seals, and coatings
- Experience developing or executing fluids test plans, validation matrices, or qualification procedures
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM, SAE, ISO, or OEM specifications
- Expert in fluid properties such as viscosity, density, thermal stability, oxidation resistance, foaming, corrosion protection, and compatibility
- Ability to collaborate and create a comprehensive strategy, communicate internally with stakeholders, and execute across multiple business units
- Ability to travel up to 25% based on business needs
