Staff Data Engineer

The Staff Data Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing our products and services by shaping solution design and supporting strategic decision-making. This individual collaborates closely with engineers, clinical experts, payment professionals, and business operations leaders to build and optimize data pipelines and analyze large-scale healthcare claims and clinical datasets. By leveraging scalable data architecture and engineering best practices, the Staff Data Engineer drives innovation and improves outcomes across the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES

  • Work cross functionally to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to support optimization and improvement of product development, sales, marketing techniques and business strategies.

  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.

  • Develop custom data models, pipelines, and architecture to apply to large-scale data sets.

  • Build scalable, reliable data infrastructure to optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, and other business outcomes.

  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement data solutions and monitor pipeline performance.

  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze data pipeline performance, data quality, and data accuracy, including responsible AI practices.

  • Champion innovation in data engineering practices, evaluating and introducing new tools, architectures, and techniques to keep the organization at the leading edge.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience building data pipelines and engineering large-scale data sets

  • Advanced level SQL coding & query optimization

  • Experience with healthcare data and standard UB/HCFA claim fields

  • Experience with data pipelines and architecture in Snowflake on Cloud Platforms (strongly preferred)

  • Experience using programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.) to build data pipelines and process large data sets.

  • Experience working with Java, Spark and/or Python

  • Experience working in Project Management tools (Jira, Confluence)

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.

  • Drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques, with a passion for driving innovation.

  • Knowledge of modern data pipeline orchestration and ETL/ELT tools and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.

  • Knowledge of data architecture and modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, data warehousing, distributed systems, etc.) and experience with applications.

  • Experience in analytic report and dashboard development.


***The US base salary range for this full-time position is:

$104,368.00 - $156,551.00
