Job description

Overview:

Nakupuna Solutions is looking for a Database Administrator. This position will support the Department of the Navy, Enterprise Systems & Services Office (PMW 250) and the Naval Safety Center’s (NAVSAFECEN) efforts for Risk Management Information (RMI). This individual will work with a team delivering an application capable of capturing safety data and supporting the full lifecycle of risk mitigation practices. The RMI initiative consists of four capability areas established to improve safety processes and automated support for those processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise database environments supporting the RMI application
  • Install, configure, monitor, and upgrade database management systems to ensure high availability and optimal performance
  • Develop and implement database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies
  • Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and perform tuning to maximize efficiency
  • Ensure database security by implementing access controls, encryption, auditing, and compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements
  • Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity personnel to support application development, deployment, and maintenance
  • Design and implement database structures, indexes, stored procedures, and queries to support application functionality
  • Perform database migrations, patching, and upgrades while minimizing system downtime
  • Maintain database documentation, configuration standards, and operational procedures
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and production releases throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Participate in system planning, architecture reviews, and continuous process improvement initiatives
Qualifications:

  • Willingness to take action to overcome challenges or obstacles and look for ways to improve results
  • Knowledgeable of Agile software development practices

Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have between 5 and 7 years of professional experience.  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Experience with Amazon QuickSight is highly preferred. 

Certification Requirements: Current credentials in relevant information technology and software development practices preferred.

Security Clearance: Tier 3 Clearance and must be a U.S. Citizen

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $92,000.00 to $138,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
