LSTC Group, a leading specialist within the SOCOTEC Group, is looking for a passionate HV Cable Design Engineer to join our growing team and help shape the energy networks of tomorrow!

What You'll Do:

As an HV Cable Design Engineer, you'll be at the heart of exciting transmission voltage projects, delivering innovative underground cable system designs that power communities across the UK. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Designing cutting-edge HV cable systems – Undertake design, studies, and calculations to BSEN/IEC/National Grid/DNO/ENA standards
  • Delivering technical excellence – Prepare cable sizing assessments, earthing studies, and interface analyses
  • Shaping the route – Contribute to cable routing feasibility and detailed design studies, balancing technical brilliance with real-world planning needs
  • Creating project documentation – Produce design concepts, specifications, and technical documents that set the standard
  • Collaborating with clients – Engage directly with clients to understand their vision and deliver solutions that exceed expectations
  • Getting hands-on – Attend site inspections and bring design expertise to the field
  • Working across disciplines – Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate your HV cable designs into transformative projects
  • Championing quality and safety – Ensure all documentation meets rigorous QA, environmental, and safety standards

Qualifications

What You Bring:

Essential:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification/experience)
  • Technical expertise in transmission voltage underground cable systems or transferable experience
  • Proficiency in CYMCAP or similar design software
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to juggle priorities
  • Knowledge of CDM & ESQCR legislation
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset

Desirable:

  • Experience with AutoCAD/MicroStation
  • Understanding of multi-discipline projects and design interface management
