We are seeking a Senior React Native Mobile Engineer to spearhead the design and development of a brand-new mobile application for Hunter's next-generation residential irrigation ecosystem. This role will focus on building the mobile control center for our upcoming IoT Tap Timer product line, which seamlessly connects an external water device, a power hub, and a mobile app to manage residential watering schedules. Because the product is currently in its core R&D phase ahead of its early 2027 hardware launch, you will operate with a high level of autonomy to help finalize the mobile architecture, connection protocols, and tech stack. This position embraces a forward-looking development lifecycle, heavily leveraging advanced AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate feature delivery and paving the way for future AI-driven smart watering optimizations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mobile Development, or a related technical field.
5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a primary focus on mobile application development.
3+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience building, testing, and deploying production-grade mobile applications using React Native.
Proven track record of working on greenfield or early-stage product lifecycles, taking ownership of technical decisions from architecture definition to initial release.
Experience developing mobile interfaces that interact directly with physical hardware, smart-home hubs, or IoT devices.
Architect and implement the clean, high-performance frontend mobile application for the IoT Tap Timer ecosystem using React Native.
Collaborate closely with firmware, embedded systems, and cloud backend engineers to define robust, reliable connectivity and synchronization protocols between the mobile app, the physical device, and the power hub.
Contribute directly to technical stack selection, mobile design patterns, and state-management definitions tailored to real-time telemetry and hardware status tracking.
Design intuitive user workflows for complex watering schedule configurations, local device pairing, and real-time flow monitoring.
Integrate agentic AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor or Claude Code) into the daily workflow to accelerate code discovery, refactoring, and test scaffolding while maintaining high standards of code quality.
Lay the foundational mobile infrastructure to support the seamless integration of predictive, AI-driven watering recommendations in subsequent product rollouts.
Strong experience in several of the following areas:
Mobile Ecosystem: Advanced React Native development, TypeScript, JavaScript, and native iOS/Android bridge integration.
IoT & Hardware Connectivity: Experience handling local and cloud-based device communication protocols (such as BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT, or WebSockets).
AI-Assisted Engineering: Hands-on mastery of modern developer automation harnesses, specifically Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
State & Data Management: Expertise managing asynchronous data flows, shared state configurations, caching, and offline-first data synchronization.
Tooling & CI/CD: Native mobile deployment pipelines, App Store Connect, Google Play Console, and modern automated testing frameworks.
AI-Powered Mobile Engineering: Practical proficiency in leveraging agentic development workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to automate complex React Native state management, accelerate UI prototyping, and generate robust cross-platform test suites.
Prior experience in the smart-home automation industry, consumer IoT products, or intelligent agricultural/residential irrigation systems.
Familiarity with hardware emulators, prototype testing cycles, and working alongside physical product benches.
Conceptual understanding of machine learning integration points or data models within consumer mobile interfaces.
Advanced English proficiency with excellent technical communication and storytelling skills.
A strong greenfield R&D mindset characterized by curiosity, adaptability, and high tolerance for evolving system definitions.
High technical ownership, proactive problem-solving, and a collaborative team orientation to work effectively across hardware and software engineering boundaries.
