Position Summary

Position supports all clinical practice sites with a variety of billing and pre-arrival duties to include accurate and timely processing of billing charges, completing a thorough review and follow-up of billing and collections, insurance verifications, insurance authorizations, and validation of referral record accuracy. Enters demographic and insurance/referral information into necessary portions of the patient electronic medical record. Performs specialized duties with minimal supervision. Electronic faxing of required information for preparation of patient visits.

This is a remote position that may require periodic travel to on-site locations for trainings and collaborative meetings.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Verifies accuracy and completeness of daily billing charges, monitors and finalizes outstanding issues held up in financial work queue, contacts necessary insurance companies and patients for benefit verification and pre-certification of therapy procedures. Performs and assists with billing and pre-arrival duties to include input, tracking, and verification of accurate and completed physical therapy transactions.
  • Responds to questions and requests from insurance companies and other entities as required. Obtains insurance information from patients and reviews medical record for accuracy. Supplies documentation required during pre-certification process to insurance companies.
  • Maintains open communication with providers and referring physicians. Documents and notifies necessary parties of pre-certification when received. Review, follow-up, and reconciliation of pre-arrival, billing, patient, and financial work queues as required. Answers billing and insurance questions.
  • Maintains required skills/competencies and participates in in-services, staff programs, continuing education and cross training programs according to established standards. Attends staff meetings, clinic meetings, and training sessions as they relate to the position.
  • Complies with OSHA, State and Federal regulatory sources/standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes.
  • Serves as support to all clinical staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses.
  • Other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to, filing, faxing, copying, and correspondence.

Salary Range

$17.89 - $26.35 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
