PHP Developer (100% Remote)

For one of our projects in the car rental industry, we are looking for a strong PHP Developer with a solid Laravel background. You will join the backend development team, working on scalable solutions and contributing to technical decisions. We are looking for someone who is engaged and proactive in being part of the team, who understands the business context, and asks why before deciding how.

Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Laravel applications using modern PHP 8.x and clean architecture principles.
• Designing and optimizing database schemas, queries, and migrations for performance, scalability, and safe production deployments.
• Implementing and managing Redis for caching, sessions, rate limiting, and other high-performance application services.
• Building and maintaining reliable asynchronous processing using queues, events, and resilient job execution patterns.
• Designing scalable system architectures with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Requirements:

• PHP & Laravel: Strong command of modern PHP 8.x features and deep Laravel knowledge, including service container, lifecycle, and framework internals, with the ability to design scalable, maintainable applications using clean architecture and domain separation.
• MySQL: Solid experience in schema design, including normalization, indexing strategies, query optimization, and safe production-level schema evolution under load.
• Redis: Practical experience using Redis beyond caching, including sessions, rate limiting, pub/sub mechanisms, and understanding persistence and eviction trade-offs.
• Queues & Events: Hands-on experience with production queue systems, including job design, retries, failure handling, and event-driven architectures with awareness of complexity vs. value.
• System Design: Ability to design scalable systems from requirements, considering failure modes, bottlenecks, and operational costs, and to communicate designs via diagrams or written architecture documents.

Nice to have:

• Elasticsearch / OpenSearch: index design, query construction, relevance tuning
• Distributed systems: experience with at least some of: eventual consistency, idempotency keys, saga patterns, distributed locking, outbox pattern
• GCP: Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery integration, or general GCP services familiarity
