Synapse Database Administrator

Permanent, Remote

Role Overview:

Our client is looking for a skilled Synapse Database Administrator to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the performance and security of our Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics environments. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional capable of managing large-scale data operations while driving efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable database schemas and ensure optimal performance as data volume grows.
  • Manage security measures, including data masking, encryption, and access controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL processes and integrate diverse data sources.
  • Perform query performance tuning and monitor the system to handle complex analytical queries efficiently.
  • Balance and manage Azure resources to optimize performance and cost.
  • Implement and oversee backup procedures and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision making.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain detailed documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Strong understanding of SQL, database design, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar data integration tools.
  • Knowledge of data security protocols and disaster recovery methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
