Job description

Position location - Upon agreement between you and your supervisor, you are entitled to a flexible arrangement where you will be able to split your time between working from the office (Lawrence, MA) and working remotely.

Purpose and Scope:

The Senior Technical Procurement Project Manager coordinates directly with the value streams, MTI, the Category teams, and the Regional Sourcing hubs to ensure in-scope, on-budget and on-time delivery of new projects requiring procurement input and support. The TPP manager represents One Procurement in the projects.   The project scope typically falls under 1 of the 3 following areas:

Moves - Change in supplier base or supplier conditions driven by the need to:

  • Move production internally from one location to another

  • Outsource:  move inhouse production to external supplier

  • Insource:  move production from an external supplier to one or more FMC plants

  • Transfer:  move in production from one external supplier to another supplier location

  • Start of new production line

Adds - Typically related to new product introductions this can fall under two areas:

  • Early involvement in the new product design for in house manufacture and supporting the materials and /or supply base to be utilized in the new product (working very closely with the category teams)

  • Early involvement in make vs buys decisions and the buying of ‘finished third party goods’ to complement our own portfolio

Changes - often referred to as sustaining engineering.  For launched products support the value streams, regulatory and MSC as they improve the design/functionality with changes and or manage part availability by qualifying alternative sources and / or materials

Principal Duties and responsibilities

  • Represents Procurement into project meetings, workshops and steering committees

  • Communicate and validate project targets & needs into One Procurement.

  • Provide detailed input to Category management for consideration into strategy and supplier portfolio development.

  • Ensure category strategy execution into all projects

  • Define tasks and work packages for procurement, allocate responsibility and track continuous tasks completion, project progress and target deliveries in a structured and precise way.

  • Closely work with the project team to challenge product architecture, parts design and technology selected. Closely work with the category management and supplier/cost engineering teams to scope the supply base impact for consideration in each initiative and agree source to contract approaches

  • Closely work with the (senior) sourcing specialists who drive all required RFXs for the projects following strategy and supplier portfolio defined by Category Management,

  • Responsible for the adherence to all compliance and other company policies

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Science or Engineering.  Ideally member of professional procurement organization eg: CIPS, ISM etc.  Master’s degree a plus.

Experience and required skills:

  • Minimum 8 years in managerial positions within Procurement or Technical Project Management roles

  • Be able to quickly grasp the technical and manufacturing nuances of the FMC Product range and related manufacturing techniques, capacities etc. and those that are similar on the open market

  • Have an advanced competence in program/project management to define and manage a seamless portfolio of activities including risks and issue management

  • Have strong commercial and financial acumen, able to write, interpret and challenge any business plans/cases and engage competently in business case creation and review

  • Be a team player as well as leader, knowing when to lean in, to coach and when needing to step in and deliver by showing how tasks are down

  • Be agile in their personal ways of working, Nuanced/articulate in managing up with either information flows, considered requests for assistance and/or progress reporting

  • Compelling engagement, communication and presentation skills. 

  • Excellent organization sills and able to deal comfortably with competing priorities

  • Agile and confident dealing with ambiguity, doesn’t need all the facts to proceed or decide

  • Outstanding business partnering skills to navigate and solve competing demands and or priorities to assist with creation of joined up workable plans

  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills with ability to understand opportunities, create value and solve complex problems.

  • Strong advanced negotiation and relationship management skills.

  • MS suite including:  PowerPoint, Word, Excel and MS project; solid skills with excel tools such as pivot tables. Business Objects/tableau experience a plus

The rate of pay for this position will depend on the successful candidate’s work location and qualifications, including relevant education, work experience, skills, and competencies.

Annual Rate: $117,000.00 - $180,000.00
