JOB OVERVIEW
Our business specialises in supporting trade services businesses, including Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Fire, and Security companies. Alongside bookkeeping, we provide job management and administration services to our Australian clients.
As an Intermediate-Senior Accountant, you will manage end-to-end bookkeeping and payroll for a portfolio of Australian clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality service delivery. The role is best suited to candidates with genuine experience handling multiple client accounts within an Australian bookkeeping or accounting environment.
The primary accounting software used is Xero, with Simpro and Employment Hero Payroll also utilised. Experience with these platforms is highly regarded, although training will be provided where required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for multiple Australian clients
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process end-to-end Australian payroll and ensure payroll compliance
- Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS in accordance with Australian GST legislation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across client accounts
- Identify and resolve bookkeeping issues, anomalies, and process gaps
- Contribute to process improvements and maintain high-quality bookkeeping standards
- Liaise professionally with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred
Experience and Knowledge
- 3–4+ years of Australian bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Proven experience managing multiple Australian clients, preferably within an Australian bookkeeping or accounting firm
- Strong end-to-end bookkeeping experience using Xero
- End-to-end Australian payroll experience is essential
- Strong understanding of Australian GST legislation, including BAS and IAS preparation
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and identify efficiencies
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
Systems and Applications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong end-to-end experience using Xero
- Experience with Simpro and/or Employment Hero Payroll is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies
