Job description

Overview:

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity foran Innovation Project Manager. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices with consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

 

The Innovation Project Manager will support the Firm’s innovation efforts to improve the delivery of legal services through new solutions, technology, and streamlined workflows. The role collaborates with the Chief Innovation Officer, Senior Technology Counsel, and cross-functional teams to execute on projects and initiatives elevating innovation as an integral part of professional development for lawyers and staff. The incumbent is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Orrick's client service standards and core values.

Responsibilities:

The Innovation Project Manager will lead and support efforts to optimize client service delivery and increase efficiencies throughout the firm. Responsibilities include:

  • Scope, define, and manage projects undertaken by the Innovation team; act as project manager and key contact point.
  • Monitor, track, and vet innovation ideas submitted to the Innovation Team; assist with analysis and implementation where applicable.
  • Consult with practice groups, attorneys, and staff to identify areas to implement new technology, improve resource usage, process map, and streamline workflows.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the firm by assisting in promoting technology use and innovative problem-solving approaches.
  • Promote efficient use of firm systems and solutions; collaborate with other departments to monitor and report on resource and technology usage; contribute to strategy to improve usage.
  • Lead project management efforts related to tool testing, piloting, and rollout to the firm, including collecting feedback and communications as needed.
  • Create marketing materials, industry submissions, presentations, and client-facing documentation under supervision.
  • Identify and work with subject matter experts to develop tools, resources, and processes that improve efficiency and delivery of legal services.
  • Support and maintain databases and platforms used by the Innovation Team, including internal portal and technology database; share knowledge where applicable.
  • Support planning of strategic initiatives, events, and travel for the Innovation team; schedule meetings, manage expenses, provide other support as needed.
  • Engage across the firm to promote innovation; proactively identify and promote opportunities to use technology and innovation to solve problems.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Seven to ten years experience in the legal environment in a role that provided direct knowledge of workflows involved in the delivery of legal services (such as attorney, practice support, or knowledge management).
  • Thorough understanding of legal processes and workflows of different practice groups.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization and/or specific direction exists.
  • Ability to analyze data & reports.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent judgment.
  • Strong analytic, project management, and research skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; positive outlook; excellent public relations and diplomacy skills.
  • Team player able to adapt to a changing environment and multitask assignments; approaches problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to present complex ideas to attorneys, managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Availability to travel as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

 

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $168,000 - $185,000
  • Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $155,000 - $175,000
  • All Other US Locations $145,000 - $160,000

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.  Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
