Job Description:

Position Summary:
The Technical Editor Senior Principal is responsible for reviewing, revising, and ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of technical documents, manuals, and reports. This role collaborates with subject matter experts to translate highly complex information into user‑friendly, professionally crafted content while adhering to organizational and industry standards. The Senior Principal Editor provides expert-level editorial guidance, oversees content quality, may lead team activities, and works independently under limited supervision to produce high‑impact documentation.  This position will report to the Technical Delivery Manager’s Team. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, edit, and revise highly complex technical materials for grammar, punctuation, formatting, structure, and content accuracy.

  • Identify and correct contextual, organizational, and technical errors; reorganize content for clarity and logical flow.

  • Edit and validate supporting materials, including tables, graphics, charts, and illustrations.

  • Provide advanced editorial advice to support content development, idea refinement, and articulation of complex concepts.

  • Collaborate with technical teams and subject‑matter experts to ensure accuracy and completeness of highly technical content.

  • Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational standards, industry guidelines, and customer requirements.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in technical editing, writing, or documentation development.

  • Demonstrated expertise editing highly complex technical documents across multiple disciplines.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities.

  • Mastery of grammar, writing mechanics, and editorial standards.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible content.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project).

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Understanding of company policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Secret Security Clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional editorial or writing certifications (such as CEW or CPTC).

  • Experience leading documentation teams or editorial task efforts.

  • Experience working with government or multi-agency customers.

  • Familiarity with technical domains such as engineering, IT, cyber, or scientific documentation.

The likely salary range for this position is $112,840 - $141,450. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
