Job Description

As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will have the opportunity to act in the role of Subject Matter Expert within the Data Integration Engineering (DIE) department. You will own making architecture decisions made at the platform level, identify reusable patterns, and automate adoption to Azure services for multiple application teams within the DIE ecosystem. You will assist in design & implementation of cloud-native, well-architected solutions that integrate well into the existing Kroger systems. You will run the departments Azure administration functions. You will also provide best practices on secure foundational cloud implementations, automated provisioning of infrastructure and applications, cloud-ready application architectures, and more. You will strive to continuously improve the software delivery processes & practices and be a role model to other engineers from application teams.

Expertise in Azure, including but CLI experience, Azure DevOps

Experience in Github & Github actions

Experience with Harness

Experience with Yaml

Experience Artifactory

Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable cloud-based solution architectures

Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and/or GCP.

Experience working with Serverless Computing & Azure Functions

Experience with monitoring/alerting techniques and APM tools

Experience automating infrastructure provisioning, DevOps, or Continuous Integration/Delivery

Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies.

Good understanding and/or experience writing software in one or more languages, GO preferred

Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, SSO, data protection, encryption, certificate, and key management

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for acting as the departments Azure Subject Matter expert for its Azure solutions, migrations, consulting needs, resource group administration and subscription. Enable other team members with Azure cross-training. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Review Azure solutions and plans

Review Terraform Code

Perform any required subscription level admin work required for application teams to deploy code/enable features needed outside their resource group or that need higher level permissions

Conduct basic tools training for team members new to GitHub and Terraform

Assist team members with installing and configuration of local software in interact with Github Saas

Help these team members create a PAT to be able to clone repositories

Provide a cheat sheet of git commands and when to use them

Assist with SPM documentation for new Azure solutions

Consult on Azure native technology capabilities

Assist with Azure Cost estimation

Review greenfield solutions and associated to ensure they are ready to go to the Azure Intake meeting

Assist with implementation of new enterprise level requirements such at kap.yml

Debugging and troubleshooting of issues/Opening Tickets with Microsoft

Define high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state
