Job description

We are seeking a Biomedical Technologists to join our team and provide biomedical services onboard cruise ships.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain biomedical equipment onboard cruise ships in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the performance and functionality of medical devices, ensuring optimal operation and adherence to quality standards in a maritime environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to identify and address issues proactively, considering the unique challenges of operating at sea.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on biomedical equipment, diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions while onboard.
  • Monitor equipment recalls and safety alerts, coordinating with manufacturers and regulatory agencies as necessary to ensure compliance and passenger safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and service history onboard cruise ships.
  • Source OEM parts and components as needed for equipment maintenance and repairs, considering logistics challenges associated with maritime operations.
  • Collaborate with onboard medical staff, ship engineers, and other stakeholders to support the effective use of medical technology and ensure passenger care continuity during voyages.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, electronics, or a related field. Relevant certifications or training programs may be considered.
  • Proven experience in biomedical equipment management, including installation, maintenance, and repairs in a maritime environment or similar challenging conditions.
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with a wide range of medical devices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to biomedical equipment management, with an understanding of maritime regulations and safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the ability to adapt to the unique challenges of working onboard cruise ships.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders in a maritime setting.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively while onboard cruise ships, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness in a dynamic environment.
