We are expanding our AI team and seeking an experienced, highly capable AI Engineer - Team Lead t to lead mission-critical AI initiatives across our platform ecosystem.


Role Purpose

The AI Lead is responsible for driving the organisation’s adoption and implementation of AI-powered solutions. This role serves as the primary owner of AI direction and execution, ensuring that AI capabilities are effectively integrated into our systems, processes, and development practices. The AI Lead will also play a key role in uplifting the engineering team, mentoring developers in AI development, and ensuring alignment with current and emerging industry standards.



Requirements

Key Accountabilities

AI Ownership & Direction

  • Own and drive the implementation of AI initiatives across the organization. 
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities where AI can deliver measurable business value. 
  • Translate business requirements into practical AI-enabled solutions. 
  • Ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with system architecture. 


Team Uplift & Mentorship
  • Lead the upskilling of developers into AI-enabled engineers. 
  • Provide guidance on: 
    • Prompt engineering 
    • AI integration patterns 
    • Use of AI tools in development workflows 
  • Act as the primary point of support for AI-related development challenges. 

  • Promote best practices and consistency in AI implementations. 


Implementation & Integration

  • Oversee the integration of AI capabilities into existing platforms and services. 
  • Define and standardize patterns for: 
    • AI service integration (e.g., APIs, LLMs)
    • Data handling and preparation
    • AI workflow orchestration 
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, and cost expectations. 

Research & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay up to date with AI technologies, tools, and trends. 
  • Evaluate and test emerging tools/frameworks for potential adoption. 
  • Recommend improvements and innovations based on industry developments.
  • Balance experimentation with practical, production-ready outcomes. 

Governance & Guardrails

  • Establish and maintain AI development standards and guardrails.
  • Ensure responsible and secure use of AI across the organisation.
  • Define validation, testing, and monitoring approaches for AI solutions. Work with teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and best practices.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Development, and QA teams to deliver AI-enabled features.
  • Provide clarity on AI capabilities, limitations, and trade-offs.
  • Align AI initiatives with overall technical and business priorities.
