Position Overview:
The Cisco EnterpriseNetwork Architect/Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintainingthe network infrastructure of an organization using Cisco technologies. Thisrole focuses on building and supporting scalable and secure enterprise networksto meet business needs. The Cisco Enterprise Network Engineer collaborates withcross-functional teams, including network architects, system administrators,and security professionals, to ensure the effective delivery of networkservices.
KeyResponsibilities:
1. Network Design and Implementation:
· Design, plan, and implement Cisco-based network solutions for theorganization and clients, adhering to industry best practices.
· Evaluate business requirements and translate them into technicalspecifications for network infrastructure.
· Configure and deploy Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wirelesscontrollers, and other networking devices.
· Conduct network capacity planning and performance tuning to optimizenetwork performance.
2. Network Troubleshooting and Support:
· Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring high availability,reliability, and security.
· Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, both proactively andreactively, to minimize downtime and disruptions.
· Collaborate with support teams and vendors to troubleshoot complexnetwork problems.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to preventrecurrence of network issues.
3. Network Security and Compliance:
· Implement and enforce network security measures, including accesscontrols, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
· Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identifyvulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
· Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements(e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR) related to network infrastructure.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams,configurations, and standard operating procedures.
· Create reports and provide insights on network performance, utilization,and trends.
· Document network changes and updates, following change managementprocesses.
5. Collaboration and Teamwork:
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network architects,system administrators, and security professionals, to ensure integrated andsecure network services.
· Participate in project teams, providing technical expertise and guidanceon network-related initiatives.
· Mentor and provide technical support to junior network engineers.
· Lead team and work with Executive Leadership to grow the networkpractice.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or arelated field (or equivalent experience).
· Cisco certifications - CCIE strongly preferred.
· Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, includingTCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, and QoS.
· Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supportingCisco-based network infrastructure.
· Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches,firewalls, and wireless controllers.
· Proficient in Meraki Switches
· AWS Networking
· Various other Vendor Security Products
o Palo Alto
o Fortinet
· Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
· Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
