About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Australia Payroll Specialist to join our growing payroll team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and payroll processing. This is a fully remote role requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to work during Australian business hours.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for Australian employees on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and within strict deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, Superannuation, PAYG, STP reporting, and relevant Awards/EBAs.
  • Calculate and process salaries, wages, overtime, allowances, tips, bonuses, leave entitlements, and termination payments.
  • Manage payroll reconciliations and reporting.
  • Handle employee payroll queries professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of employee payroll records.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, and clients regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Support payroll audits and compliance reviews.
  • Stay updated with changes in Australian payroll legislation and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience processing Australian payroll.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Fair Work legislation
    • Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
    • Superannuation
    • PAYG withholding
    • Single Touch Payroll (STP)
    • Leave calculations and termination processing
  • Experience using payroll software such as Employment Hero Payroll, Xero Payroll, MYOB, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple payrolls and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.

Preferred

  • Exposure to multiple client payrolls across various industries.
  • Relevant payroll, accounting, or HR qualifications.
