Job description

Consultant Psychiatrist - Children & Young Person Service

United Kingdom (Remote)

Remuneration: Competitive Rates

Contract Type: Self-Employed Contractor

Location: Remote

About Us:

Psychiatry UK is the UK’s leading provider of digital psychiatry services, working both privately and with the NHS to support children, teenagers and adults with expert, patient-centred care.

As a self-employed Consultant Psychiatrist (CYP) with Psychiatry UK, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of Children and Young People with various mental health conditions (where you have experience), including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, utilising your expertise to deliver evidence-based interventions and support to our patients.

As part of our continued growth, Psychiatry-UK will launch expanded Children and Young People (CYP) services through Right to Choose in Autumn 2026. Building on our extensive experience in neurodevelopmental assessment and care, the service has been designed to deliver high-quality, safe and clinically robust assessments in line with national guidance and best practice standards.

As demand for timely ADHD and Autism assessments continues to increase, this expansion will help improve access to care for children, young people and their families.

To support the launch of this service, Psychiatry-UK is seeking suitably qualified independent clinicians interested in providing services on a contractual basis.

You'll have access to diverse referral sources, enabling you to work with a broad patient population. Our streamlined payment system ensures efficiency and ease in financial transactions. To maintain high standards of care, we provide robust quality assurance through feedback systems designed to enhance both patient satisfaction and practice quality. Safeguarding and well-being are priorities, with dedicated support available for related concerns. You'll also benefit from a secure online workspace, including pre-configured equipment to ensure seamless integration into our systems.

To succeed as a Consultant Psychiatrist (CYP):

You will have extensive clinical experience in Child and Young Person (CYP) mental health services, demonstrating the ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and work autonomously within multidisciplinary teams. You will communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and service users, manage competing priorities efficiently, and consistently deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care in line with clinical governance and professional standards.

Essential Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Medical degree with a postgraduate qualification (MRCPsych or equivalent)

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or Paediatrics

  • Minimum of two years’ post-CCT practice in CAMHS and/or community neurodevelopmental pathways

  • Experience working autonomously within multidisciplinary clinical services

  • Strong understanding of clinical governance frameworks and regulatory requirements in mental health services

  • High-level clinical judgement and decision-making across complex CYP presentations

  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of CYP mental health conditions, including ADHD and ASD

  • Ability to adapt to digital-first and remote clinical service delivery models

If you are passionate about making a difference in mental health care and meet our requirements, we invite you to apply and be part of our innovative, online psychiatry service.
