Medical Billing Specialist (Home Healthcare Billing) – Part-Time

Location: Remote (U.S. Time Zones - ET)
Employment Type: Part-Time (20 hours/week)
Potential Growth: Opportunity to transition into Full-Time (40 hours/week)

About the Role

Our client is a growing medical billing startup focused on supporting home healthcare providers across Massachusetts. They are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to manage billing operations and ensure accurate, timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

This role is ideal for a billing professional who has hands-on experience with home healthcare billing, understands Massachusetts insurance requirements, and thrives in a fast-paced, remote startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end medical billing and revenue cycle process for home healthcare services.
  • Process and submit medical claims accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Track, monitor, and follow up on submitted insurance claims.
  • Investigate and resolve claim denials, billing discrepancies, and reimbursement issues.
  • Coordinate with Massachusetts insurance carriers regarding claims processing and payments.
  • Maintain accurate billing records and documentation within CollaborateMD.
  • Ensure billing practices remain compliant with HIPAA standards and regulations.
  • Provide administrative support related to billing and reimbursement operations.
  • Support inbound and outbound communication with patients and insurance providers as operational needs expand.

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

  • Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience, including home healthcare billing.
  • Demonstrated experience billing Massachusetts-based insurance carriers.
  • Hands-on proficiency using CollaborateMD.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing workflows and revenue cycle management.
  • Experience working independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • Claim submission and tracking
    • Payment posting
    • Denial management and appeals
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
  • Prior experience in a remote healthcare support environment.
  • Comfortable handling patient and insurance-related calls when required.
