The Role

As QA Director, you will be responsible for the overall direction and development of QA at Raw Power Games.

You will lead an established team of experienced QA professionals while working closely with production, development leadership, DevOps and external testing partners. Although this is a strategic leadership role, we are looking for someone who remains connected to the team, product and practical realities of game development by occasionally being hands-on.

Over time, you will help define how QA operates within a growing, multi-project studio. This will include developing scalable processes, shaping our approach to internal and external testing, and ensuring that automation supports the wider quality strategy.

Responsibilities 

  • Define and own the long-term QA strategy for Raw Power Games

  • Lead, support and develop the existing QA team

  • Prepare the QA function for Early Access, launch and future projects

  • Build on the team’s existing processes without introducing unnecessary hierarchy or disruption

  • Work with production and development leadership to identify quality risks early and establish appropriate testing approaches

  • Help define how QA should be structured as the studio grows, including the balance between embedded project support and shared studio-wide capabilities

  • Develop scalable QA processes that can support multiple teams and projects

  • Shape the strategy for internal testing, external QA partners and outsourced testing support

  • Ensure appropriate QA coverage for both game development and player-facing tools

  • Work closely with DevOps and technical specialists to align automation priorities with the wider QA strategy

  • Support release readiness and help teams make informed decisions around quality, risk and scope

  • Create an environment where team members feel comfortable raising concerns, sharing feedback and taking ownership

  • Stay informed about emerging QA practices, technologies and opportunities to improve how quality is managed

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in games QA or software quality engineering.

  • 3+ years in a QA leadership role, with experience leading QA teams through at least one release

  • Extensive professional experience in games quality assurance

  • Experience mentoring senior QA Engineers and developing future QA leaders

  • Experience managing and developing an established team

  • A strong understanding of QA strategy throughout development, release and post-launch support

  • Experience helping QA teams or organisations scale

  • Experience working with external QA providers, outsourcing partners or vendors

  • A clear understanding of the role automation can play within a broader QA strategy

  • Experience collaborating closely with production, engineering, DevOps and other development disciplines

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

  • The ability to balance strategic planning with practical involvement

  • A genuine passion for QA as a long-term discipline within game development

  

Bonus

  • Experience working on an Unreal Engine project

  • Experience supporting a game through Early Access or launch

  • Experience within a PC and/or console development environment

  • Experience supporting multiple development teams or projects

  • Experience testing player-facing tools, platforms or creator-facing technology

  • Experience expanding or transforming a QA function

  • Awareness of emerging automation-supported QA practices
