The National Director of Sales - East Coast will lead and oversee the performance of Event Sales Managers across a region, ensuring optimal performance, profitability, revenue generation, and guest satisfaction. This role requires a proven background in event sales and strong leadership skills to mentor and coach sales teams, drive event revenue, and foster a high-performance culture. The National Director of Sales will analyze sales performance and implement strategies to exceed revenue goals per location. This role will also focus on promoting all brands, supporting market growth, and developing long-term client relationships. Travel across the US is required to ensure alignment with business objectives and deliver exceptional event experiences.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide daily regional venue support by mentoring, coaching, and motivating venue event sales teams to exceed monthly and annual sales budgets through maximizing inbound leads and outbound efforts.
  • Implement and oversee sales strategy plans for each venue, including monthly strategic planning and competitive marketing analysis.
  • Develop and support sales teams in all areas of prospecting and outreach, including identifying qualified prospects, developing lead lists, utilizing social media, warm calling, and connecting with local hotel teams, CVBs, Chambers of Commerce, and other professional organizations.
  • Manage CRM within the region, producing and monitoring reports that track trends and KPIs through data analysis.
  • Hire and onboard new hires and conduct ongoing training for sales teams, collaborating with counterparts to update training manuals, documents, and forms consistently.
  • Ensure consistency of national sales standards across the region, including sales systems, proposals, contracts, presentations, and marketing collateral.
  • Research and monitor market trends, new business opportunities, and competitors’ offerings to increase event sales revenue.
  • Establish national corporate relationships and execute multi-site bookings.
  • Support the team with inbound leads and follow up when applicable
  • Oversee and collaborate with venues on local tradeshows and memberships, managing marketing and processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports for the VP of Sales, including sales pipeline, forecasting, lost business, and lead conversion for the region.
  • Maintain consistent communication and collaboration with the VP of Sales, Regional Operations team, and General Managers.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales and counterparts to develop national event marketing campaigns and menu development.
  • Attend national tradeshows.
  • Offer training and resources to improve skills in relationship selling, strategic selling, and upselling.
  • Role-play with event sales teams to ensure they are confident in cold calling, networking, office visits, and selling in various scenarios.
  • Travel approximately 30-35% to designated locations to work one-on-one with sales teams and assess local markets.

Compensation $115,000-120,000 annually + Corporate Bonus Program

Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • 7+ years of event sales and leadership experience as a Regional or National Sales Director in a high-volume ($12M+ annual event revenue) multi-unit environment.
  • Experience managing a team of 10 or more individuals as direct reports.
  • Ability to travel, work remotely, and within a venue as needed.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Deep knowledge of prospecting and outbound sales strategies, as well as relationship and strategic selling.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management and forecasting skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with a creative approach.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and OneDrive.
  • Experience with Tripleseat or other catering software is a plus.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to work on-site at venue during weekdays, as this role requires hands-on involvement with daily operations and event coordination.
  • Flexible hours with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Good sense of balance, with the capability to bend, kneel, and lift products weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to remain stationary while working on a computer screen or on the phone for extended periods
  • Awareness of potential hazards, including slipping and tripping
  • Physical activities on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; frequent use of telephone/video conferencing and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means.
