Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Retail Space Intelligence to lead the development of store-level shelf insights that improve retail execution and unlock growth opportunities. This role will leverage the company’s shelf analytics and category intelligence platforms to evaluate shelf productivity and identify opportunities across shelf flow, brand block positioning, facings, strike zone placement, on-shelf availability, planogram compliance, and distribution.

This leader will play a critical role in helping the organization translate complex shelf and space data into clear, actionable recommendations that improve shelf conditions and drive business results. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in space management and shelf analytics, strong cross-functional leadership, and a passion for identifying localized opportunities store by store.

What You’ll Do

  • Leverage the company’s shelf analytics and category intelligence platforms to measure shelf productivity at the store level and identify opportunities to improve shelf conditions.

  • Analyze shelf flow, brand blocks, facings, strike zone placement, and shelf availability to optimize merchandising performance.

  • Partner closely with Shopper Insights to incorporate gold standard shelf principles into recommendations and execution strategies, including evaluating planograms against goal standards to measure percent compliance and identify opportunities to improve shelf productivity, assortment placement, facings, and execution.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on shelf and space initiatives, advising internal stakeholders and retailer partners on opportunities, execution, and best practices.

  • Work cross-functionally with Innovation, Business Units, and Business Unit Sales Strategy to determine optimal placement for new items and support successful launches.

  • Measure planogram execution compliance by comparing actual shelf conditions to assigned planograms and identifying execution gaps at the store level.

  • Monitor real-time on-shelf availability to surface issues and recommend corrective actions.

  • Identify must-carry and distribution opportunities by store, region, and market to support growth and stronger retail execution.

  • Partner with the GIS team to identify current and future local opportunities, using location-based insights to drive smarter shelf and assortment decisions.

  • Lead and develop direct reports, providing coaching, prioritization, and strategic direction to ensure strong execution and team growth.

  • Translate complex analyses into simple, compelling recommendations that clearly communicate business opportunities and priorities to customer teams, retailers, and internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep expertise in space management, shelf analytics, and merchandising execution.

  • Strong understanding of how to harmonize multiple datasets to uncover local opportunities and generate actionable recommendations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of planogram compliance, assortment strategy, shelf optimization, on-shelf availability, and distribution analytics.

  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert to customer teams, retailers, and internal cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities, with the ability to simplify complex insights into clear business actions.

  • A collaborative, forward-looking mindset with comfort working across functions and navigating ambiguity.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience leveraging store-level and shelf-related datasets to identify actionable opportunities.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence both internal stakeholders and external retailer partners.

Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in shelf analytics, space management, category leadership, retail analytics, or related CPG commercial roles

  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, including direct management, coaching, and performance development

  • Experience working with shelf, planogram, POS, assortment, or store-level execution data

  • Experience influencing retailer strategy and partnering closely with customer teams
