We are seeking experienced underground mining professionals for ongoing expatriate opportunities to work on a variety of rosters at our newly appointed Sabodala Gold Mine Project in Senegal, West Africa. With a strong focus on training the national workforce. Located in West Africa, Sabodala is a large-scale gold mining operation with a strong focus on safety, production performance, and workforce development. Candidates will be working in a multicultural environment with a mix of expatriate and national employees, supporting ongoing underground expansion and production targets
Expressions of Interest – Future Vacancies
We’re actively recruiting expressions of interest for the following roles:
- Alternate Project Manager
- Mine Foreman
- Maintenance Foreman
- Shift Supervisors
- Electrical Supervisor
Duties involved in the role:
- To oversee the day-to-day operation of shift workers and equipment usage at an underground mine site
- To ensure all workers on shift are trained and competent to perform their duties safely and productively at all times.
- Training of National Supervisors and workforce to a high standard
- Ensure mining operations are conducted in a safe manner, and any safety issues are promptly reported to the Underground Manager
- Ensure targets are met.
- Perform the daily management, control, and supervision of the working areas in accordance with all relevant Acts and Regulations
- Oversee the mines interest with regard to duty of care to all employees, sub-contractors, and visitors.
- Organise crews, rosters and day to day running of that particular site.
- Conduct daily work planning meetings / toolbox meetings.
- Submit incident reports in writing to the Site Manager
- Carry out crew training, practical assessments and review each employee's development, mentoring and performance.
Our ideal candidate background includes
- Minimum of 5 years underground experience in their relevant discipline.
- Have current Certification for the role you are apply for.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Current Manual Drivers Licence and ability to obtain an International Licence.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Ability to work in remote, international environments.
- Experience in Africa or other developing regions highly regarded.
- Ability to adapt to rostered expatriate lifestyle.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven experience training national personnel to a high standard.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
