Role Overview

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Elastic Operations (Managed Services) team. In this role, you will lead the design, operation, and continuous improvement of large-scale cloud-native data platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and scalability across Snowflake and leading cloud services on AWS and Azure. You will collaborate closely with clients, internal engineering teams, and practice leadership to translate complex business and operational requirements into actionable architectures and roadmaps, helping customers mature their data platforms and derive measurable value. You will also play a key role in standardizing patterns, driving automation, and elevating phData’s Elastic Operations delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery

  • Own and drive the architecture, implementation, and ongoing operation of modern cloud-native data platforms (Snowflake on AWS/Azure) for multiple enterprise customers across data lakes, streaming, and analytics use cases.
  • Translate business, security, and operational requirements into scalable, cost-effective platform designs leveraging services such as Snowflake, IAM, S3, EC2, Kinesis, SageMaker, Kafka, Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Fivetran, dbt, Airflow, and related technologies.
  • Ensure engagements are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable business value for clients through proactive monitoring, incident management, performance tuning, capacity planning, and continuous optimization.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including data engineers, platform engineers, data scientists, architects, and project managers to deliver successful Elastic Operations engagements.
  • Lead and mentor technical teams operating and managing customer platforms, including building and managing Epics, Stories, and Tasks, delegating work, and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery across a progressively evolving technical stack.
  • Ensure high quality in deliverables through code and configuration reviews, documentation, runbooks, testing, governance practices, and change management that align with phData standards.
  • Partner with practice and account leaders to identify opportunities to expand engagements, mature client platforms, standardize patterns, and introduce automation to reduce toil and improve reliability.

Practice & Firm Contribution

  • Contribute to internal initiatives such as developing automation, accelerators, templates, and playbooks for Elastic Operations, including infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and operational tooling.
  • Help refine operational processes, procedures, and best practices for running modern data platforms at scale, including incident response, problem management, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the growth and enablement of the team by sharing knowledge, contributing to internal training, and providing coaching and guidance to engineers on cloud, data, and operations topics.
  • Represent phData with professionalism in all interactions, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and advocating for best practices in cloud data architecture and operations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, shaping platform roadmaps, influencing strategic decisions, and guiding long-term modernization and optimization initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of learning, feedback, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the Elastic Operations practice.
  • Help define and refine practice standards, reusable assets, automation frameworks, and delivery methodologies for managed services and Elastic Operations at phData.
  • Lead high-impact technical and architectural discussions, including data model and platform design reviews, and drive alignment across customer and internal teams.

About You

You are a hands-on, client-focused technical leader who enjoys solving complex data and platform challenges in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, operating across multiple customers and technology stacks at once, and breaking big problems into actionable steps. You think holistically about technical, business, operational, and human dimensions, communicate clearly with executives and engineers alike, and take ownership to follow through on commitments. You value psychological safety, collaboration, and continuous learning, and you thrive in a global, distributed team.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in designing, operating, and supporting cloud-native data platforms and enterprise data ecosystems, ideally across Snowflake and major cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure).

Technical / Functional Skills

  • Production support and architectural experience with cloud-native data warehouses (Snowflake and/or Redshift) and cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), including IAM, storage (S3/ADLS), and compute services.
  • Production experience with distributed and NoSQL storage technologies such as S3, ADLS, HDFS, Elasticsearch/Solr, Cassandra, or similar, and with modern data architectures (data lakes, streaming, analytics platforms).
  • Hands-on experience with data integration, streaming, and orchestration tools such as Spark, Kafka, Fivetran, HVR, NiFi, AWS Data Migration Services, Azure Data Factory, Airflow/Managed Airflow, Luigi, or similar technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL with the ability to write, debug, and optimize complex queries for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and improve operational processes, procedures, and automation (e.g., monitoring, alerting, runbooks, performance tuning) for enterprise-scale data platforms.

Consulting / Delivery Skills

  • Experience delivering projects for external or internal clients in a professional services, managed services, or consulting environment.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into structured, actionable steps and drive them through to completion across multiple concurrent customer engagements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience creating and delivering clear, executive-ready technical presentations and recommendations.

Collaboration & Ownership

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with distributed and cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership, managing multiple priorities and customer accounts, and delivering high-quality work with minimal supervision, including mentoring and guiding other engineers.

Education - If desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
