Job Title: Policy Analyst

Homebased UK

BSI Regulatory Service is evolving and as part of our growth, we are seeking to move into new sectors to deliver innovative and transformational regulatory and voluntary certification services. This role sits at the intersection of horizon scanning and strategy development in BSI's Regulatory Services division within the Policy, Strategy and Initiatives team (PS&I). The purpose of this role is to analyse emerging areas of regulation, policy and technology across industries and geographies and contextualise to identify different commercial opportunities. Within this team we identify new opportunities and develop products to support growth Product Certification, AI and Medical Devices business units. We do this through our Life Sciences and Emerging Sectors teams. This role will sit in the Emerging Sectors team.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, analyse and report business opportunities in new industry sectors, considering the regulatory arena, industry sectors, technology trends and the political environment.

  • Analyse competitor and regulatory/legislative developments, working in collaboration with regulatory leads across RS to gain early insight on regulations, standards and policy changes that are on the horizon.

  • Support the Head of Emerging Sectors in the development of their strategies and product development by translating the analysis into evidence-based proposals, assessments and approaches that inform commercial opportunities for growth.

  • Undertake and commission qualitative and quantitative research, using primary and secondary evidence to develop a robust evidence base that supports analysis, option development, business cases, and progression into commercial opportunities.

  • Carry out stakeholder engagement and collaborate with internal teams and subject matter experts to ensure opportunities are strategically aligned and informed by operational and commercial considerations.

  •  Develop relationships in the markets identified to build awareness of BSI’s expertise in the sector concerned.

To be successful in the role, you will have: 

  • At least three years' experience in a Regulated Industry in one of the following areas: Policy analysis, Strategic Analysis, Consulting.

  • Educated to bachelor’s degree level

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

  • Demonstrated experience of developing strategy options and supporting KPIs.

  • Hands on experience in data analysis tool set (e.g. MS Power-BI, Qlik Sense).

The salary for this position can range from £42,500 - £53,000 basic plus 5% bonus annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
