NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.

 

The Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist – HLA plays a critical role within the Histocompatibility and Transplant Laboratory, supporting organ and stem cell transplantation through specialized Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) testing and analysis. This position performs advanced laboratory procedures, ensures the accuracy and quality of test results, and contributes to patient care by providing timely and reliable data to support transplant compatibility assessments. The role requires expertise in molecular diagnostics, immunology, and transplant laboratory operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform HLA typing using low-resolution (RT-PCR, SSOP) and high-resolution (NGS) methodologies.
  • Conduct HLA antibody screening and identification using Luminex platforms.
  • Perform HLA flow cytometry crossmatching and support virtual crossmatch assessments.
  • Extract and process DNA samples for molecular testing and analysis.
  • Accession, process, and maintain laboratory specimens and associated records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform quality control, instrument verification, and documentation activities to ensure compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Validate and review test results, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timely reporting.
  • Participate in shift work, on-call coverage, and other laboratory duties as required to support operational needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Current DOH, DHA, or equivalent professional licensure/eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience, including hands-on experience in HLA and Transplant Laboratory testing.
  • Demonstrated experience with HLA typing, HLA antibody testing, flow cytometry crossmatching, and molecular diagnostic techniques.
  • Experience using NGS, Luminex, RT-PCR, SSOP, or similar platforms relevant to histocompatibility testing.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory quality management systems and accreditation requirements, including CAP, ISO 15189, and related standards.
