Data Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data pipelines and transformation layer that power our platform. This role focuses on integrating data from third-party APIs and internal systems, transforming data into clean, reliable, and scalable models that support applications, services, and analytics.

You will work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure efficient, high-quality data flow across the platform, with a strong emphasis on API integrations, ETL/ELT development, cloud-based workflows, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest data from third-party APIs and internal systems
• Develop transformation logic using Python and SQL to clean, normalize, enrich, and model data for downstream applications and analytics
• Build and maintain serverless data workflows in AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS/PostgreSQL, and Step Functions
• Integrate external API data with internal data models, ensuring schema alignment, mapping consistency, and data integrity
• Partner with backend engineering teams to expose transformed data through APIs and services
• Optimize SQL queries, pipeline performance, and cloud resource usage for efficiency and cost control
• Implement data validation, monitoring, and quality controls to ensure reliable pipeline performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration failures, transformation issues, and data inconsistencies
• Maintain documentation for data models, transformation logic, and workflow architecture

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, Backend Engineering, or a related technical role
• Strong SQL skills including complex joins, window functions, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Solid Python experience for ETL/ELT development, scripting, and data transformation
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript in backend, integration, or serverless environments
• Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud-based environments
• Experience integrating REST APIs and transforming external schemas into internal data models
• Practical AWS experience, especially Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and RDS/PostgreSQL
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks
• Experience with PostgreSQL in operational or analytics-focused environments
• Familiarity with serverless and event-driven architecture patterns
• Experience supporting analytics platforms, dashboards, or data products
