Job description

This is a remote position.

Job Description

Interior Health's Mental Health and Substance Use department is seeking an experienced recruitment consultant to provide end-to-end physician recruitment services for difficult-to-fill psychiatrist positions across acute and tertiary care sites within the Interior Health region of British Columbia. The consultant will support the recruitment and placement of up to seven psychiatrists and assist throughout the recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, licensing verification, immigration support, and onboarding activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver full-cycle physician recruitment services for psychiatrist vacancies.
  • Confirm that prospective candidates are not already being engaged by Interior Health's Medical Staff Recruitment team.
  • Source and identify qualified psychiatrist candidates.
  • Conduct and coordinate interviews between candidates and Interior Health stakeholders.
  • Verify candidate eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Facilitate communication between hiring leaders and candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Support physician immigration processes when required.
  • Develop and execute recruitment marketing activities to attract qualified candidates.
  • Present licensable candidates to Interior Health within 12 months of contract initiation.
  • Support successful candidate placement through commencement of clinical work.
  • Recruit and place a maximum of seven physician candidates during the contract term.
  • Provide replacement candidates if a placed physician leaves within the first year of employment, in accordance with contract terms.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Must meet either one of the below qualifications.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a relevant discipline with a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; OR
  • Certificate in a relevant discipline with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience; OR
  • Minimum ten (10) years of directly related experience.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated physician recruitment experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with British Columbia physician licensing requirements.
  • Experience working with international medical graduates (IMGs).
  • Understanding of CPSBC eligibility and licensure processes.
  • Experience supporting physician immigration processes.
  • Proven ability to recruit hard-to-fill healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Canadian-based recruitment consulting experience.
  • Strong healthcare recruitment network, particularly in psychiatry and mental health services.
  • Experience recruiting physicians for public healthcare organizations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare workforce planning and physician retention strategies.
