The role

Associate Director (AD) Operations & Inventory Retail Media: Strategic lead for the global product lifecycle and operational engine, driving scalability, inventory excellence, and flawless execution across all HelloFresh markets.

As the Associate Director of Retail Media Operations & Inventory, you will be a cornerstone of the Global Retail Media team based at our Amsterdam office. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Global Retail Media, you will hold a critical global mandate to professionalise and scale our Retail Media Network (RMN) across all markets where HelloFresh operates.

Retail Media at HelloFresh is uniquely complex. Our campaigns directly affect the physical customer experience and our core food product. Your focus is owning the end-to-end product roadmap for both physical and digital assets, moving from strategic development to flawless execution. You will provide operational oversight by streamlining post-contract execution to drive maximum Distribution Centre (DC) efficiency, utilisation rates, and client retention. You will lead the transition of our operational capabilities from single-campaign to omnichannel multi-campaign delivery by unifying product strategy and operational rigour.

You will…

  • Lead Global Product Strategy: Define and manage the end-to-end product roadmap for physical assets (sampling, inserts, recipe partnerships) and digital propositions (onsite/offsite), ensuring a unified global strategy.
  • Drive Inventory Excellence: Own the global inventory utilisation strategy. Implement yield frameworks to maximise the fill rate and commercial value of every box and digital impression.
  • Optimise Campaign Operations: Oversee post-contract execution, ensuring flawless campaign delivery, A/B-testing of physical and digital assets, Post Campaign Reporting, and adherence to strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Enhance Distribution Efficiency: Partner with Distribution Centres (DC’s) and Data teams to improve multi-campaign capabilities and operational efficiency on the ground.
  • Enable Digital Scaling: Act as the operational bridge for our digital revenue plan, overseeing the monetisation enablement of assets owned by other internal teams as well as development of new onsite placements.
  • Bridge KPI’s: Lead impact analysis of our Retail Media offering on new and existing customers, and match this with the objectives of our organisation and Marketing department.
  • Standardise Global Governance: Lead and mentor local operations specialists across markets, ensuring global alignment and consistent execution standards.

  • A Precision-Focused Leader: You understand that in a food-tech business, operational errors have real-world impacts on customer experience and brand perception.
  • Strategic and Operational: Able to move seamlessly between long-term product roadmapping (6–12 months) and immediate operational oversight (0–6 months).
  • A Process Architect: You enjoy building systems from scratch and have a proven ability to standardise workflows across multicultural, matrixed teams.
  • Results-Oriented: Highly focused on key performance indicators, including campaign fulfilment rates, inventory utilisation, and AEBIT contribution.
  • Solution-Oriented: You pivot quickly when faced with logistical or technical bottlenecks to ensure on-time and accurate delivery.
  • A Collaborative Partner: Skilled at working cross-functionally with Product, Tech, FSQA Logistics, and Sales teams to de-risk and grow the business.

You have…

  • Extensive Experience (7+ years preferred): Proven track record in ad operations, inventory management, or product management within a Retail Media Network, e-commerce platform, or large-scale digital publisher.
  • Deep Operational Knowledge: Experience managing the full campaign lifecycle, including asset collection, trafficking, QA, and post-campaign reporting.
  • Commercially Minded: You don't just manage inventory; you understand how to package and price it to maximise AEBIT.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills: Softly influencing key stakeholders across a global matrix to align on complex operational and product rollouts. 
  • A Master Communicator: You can translate complex operational constraints into clear solutions for sales teams and senior leadership.
  • Team Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading and developing cross-market (Operations) teams, establishing global governance and fostering capability-building to drive execution excellence and operational independence.
  • Global Perspective: Experience operating in a global-local matrix, managing stakeholders across multiple international markets.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in eCommerce (CPG/FMCG), Digital Advertising, Retail Media and/or subscription business models.
  • Deep knowledge of the evolving Retail Media landscape and emerging digital ad-tech trends.
  • Familiarity with the logistics of physical sampling or warehouse operations.
  • Experience with CRM (HubSpot), CDP, and Ad Servers (Google Ad Manager).
