The NICU Complex Infant Lung and Airway Disease Unit is a specialized, 15-bed, technology-dependent unit dedicated to providing exceptional, family-centered care to former preterm infants under two years of age. These patients require ongoing chronic airway and respiratory support, and our team delivers compassionate, highly skilled care in a collaborative environment.

About the Role
As a nurse on this high-acuity unit, you will:
Care for infants with complex diagnoses, including:
Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD)
Pulmonary Hypertension
Congenital airway malformations
Manage advanced respiratory support and technology-dependent patients
Safely administer and monitor multiple IV drips
Deliver compassionate, family-centered care and education
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team
About Our NICU
Founded in 1961 by Mildred Stahlman, MD, Vanderbilt’s NICU was one of the first specialized programs in the world dedicated exclusively to pre-term infant care. Neonatal Services is organized into specialized pods, allowing for cohorting of patient diagnoses and delivery of highly expert, focused care.
Position Details
Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
Schedule: 36 hours per week
Setting: High-acuity chronic complex care unit
Preferred Qualifications
NICU experience preferred
Candidates without NICU experience are encouraged to apply — extensive training provided
Strong critical thinking and teamwork skills
