Who you are

You take pride in being the person every team can rely on to keep things working. The wins in this role are quiet — taxes filed on time, insurance renewed, a vendor onboarded before anyone noticed it was a bottleneck — and you find that genuinely satisfying. You have a low ego, don't see anything as beneath you, and take an ownership mentality to whatever you're given.

You're the kind of person who actually checks the numbers, catches the typo, and spots the discrepancy before it becomes a fire. You're trusted with sensitive work and you handle it with the discretion and rigor it requires.

You're constantly looking for ways to make processes more efficient. When you've done a manual task three times, you've already started thinking about what the fourth time looks like — and whether it should even happen at all. You're excited about AI as a daily tool — when handed a recurring manual task you immediately ask "can I automate this?" You've used (or are eager to use) tools like Claude Code and ChatGPT to take work off your own plate, and you want to join a team where building internal tooling and automating operational workflows is part of the job, not a side project.

Eventually, you may want to take greater ownership of one specific function, and you understand that getting broad operational experience first will only make you more effective once you decide to specialize.

About the role

As the Operations Generalist at Vesta, you'll be the go-to person for the operational work that keeps the company running across multiple domains. You'll partner closely with our Head of Operations and Chief of Staff to take ownership of recurring operational workflows and drive improvements in our systems and processes.

Vesta is heading into a year of significant growth — meaningful headcount expansion, more customers, more vendors, and more complexity across the board. A lot of the operational scaffolding that's gotten us this far will need to be reinforced or rebuilt. You'll be instrumental in making sure things don't break as we scale: anticipating what's about to bend under the load, putting process in place where it's missing, and finding opportunities to automate work so the rest of the team can keep moving fast.

Specifically, you'll be responsible for:

  • Owning the steady-state work that keeps the train running — state licensing, business insurance, equity administration, legal triage, and the broader stream of administrative work that comes with operating the company.

  • Supporting financial operations end-to-end — monthly customer invoicing, accounts payable, expense management, and helping coordinate tax filings.

  • Driving tech and automation projects across the G&A function — building internal tooling, automating recurring workflows, and looking for opportunities to use AI to eliminate grunt work for yourself and the rest of the team.

  • Picking up operational overflow — the "everything else" bucket that comes up at a fast-moving startup and doesn't yet have a clean home. You'll be the first call when something operational needs to get done.

  • Eventually taking greater ownership of a functional area (such as finance or operations) in addition to helping out on the more generalized needs of the business.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $100,000–$125,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
