How You’ll Make an Impact

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with at least 10 years of experience designing  and leading electrical and control systems tasks and projects for water and wastewater facilities. This includes treatment plants, pump stations, storage, conveyance systems, system evaluations, and condition assessments. You’ll work on a variety of projects supporting electrical power distribution, instrumentation, control systems, telemetry, and SCADA—from concept through design and construction support. This is a hybrid position with monthly travel, tied to our San Diego or Arizona offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Advanced Engineering and Technical Expertise

  • Lead the development of complex engineering analyses, simulations, and model-based assessments.
  • Design low- to medium-voltage (120V–15kV) power distribution systems in compliance with NEC and other codes.
  • Independently develop electrical drawings and documentation, including single-line diagrams, power & lighting plans, conduit block diagrams, panel schedules, and schematics.
  • Independently design electrical systems, including utility service, power distribution, motor controls, standby power systems, electrical room layouts, power plans, lighting, and grounding.
  • Independently perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop, short circuit analysis, and equipment sizing.
  • Design instrumentation and control systems including P&IDs, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, and communication networks (fiber, copper, radio).
  • Define and document hazardous areas per NFPA 820 and NEC 500.
  • Edit guide technical specifications for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to be project specific.
  • Support construction with shop drawing reviews, RFIs, field inspections, and commissioning.
  • Optimize technical workflows and methodologies to improve project efficiency and accuracy.

Project and Task Management

  • Oversee complex project phases, ensuring technical accuracy, budget adherence, and schedule compliance.
  • Manage highly technical project components and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions.
  • Direct, review, and provide guidance on engineering work performed by junior and mid-level staff to ensure quality and consistency.
