Automation Engineer Mid [Workato, Power Platform, Mulesoft - full remote from Portugal or Europe]

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently collaborating with a leading global e-commerce group, present in Asia, Europe and in the Americas. In this context, we are looking for someone with energy, a sense of responsibility, and motivation to take on the role of Automation Engineer, in one of the strategic initiatives we are leading with this client.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSIGNMENTS

In practical terms, this person will be primarily responsible for identifying, designing, and delivering automations that reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency across the company.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

• Design and implement end-to-end workflows using platforms such as Workato and Microsoft Power Automate
• Build seamless integrations between SaaS platforms, cloud databases, and internal systems using APIs, JSON data transformation, and webhooks
• Develop RPA solutions for processes that cannot be integrated directly through APIs
• Introduce intelligent, AI-enabled steps into workflows (utilizing Gemini, Copilot, or internal LLM endpoints) for text classification, summarization, and data extraction
• Create reusable automation components, custom connectors, templates, and standards to accelerate pipeline delivery
• Monitor automation performance, troubleshoot cloud flows, and optimize workflows to improve scalability and maintainability
• Document automated solutions and operational procedures clearly
• Establish governance and best practices around automation while evaluating new technologies to improve the landscape

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

For this position, we are looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in similar roles.

You'll be the right fit if you bring these mandatory requirements:

• Hands-on expertise with enterprise-grade workflow and integration platforms, such as Workato, Power Automate, Mulesoft, n8n
• Strong experience delivering production-grade cloud workflow automation and systems integration
• Technical fluency in REST APIs, webhooks, data payloads (JSON/XML), and authentication protocols (OAuth, API keys)
• Deep familiarity with event-driven architectures and modern system integration patterns
• Practical knowledge of handling API inputs/outputs with LLMs and formatting structured prompts inside workflows
• Hybrid coding skills: Ability to write Python or JavaScript for data array cleanup, JSON parsing, and handling complex workflow logic

And it will be very nice if you also bring:

• Experience with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) solutions
• Knowledge of document processing and automated data extraction
• Ability to create custom connectors for integration platforms

Beyond technical knowledge, we also expect you to have a collaborative and team-oriented profile:

• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Pragmatic "builder" mindset, focusing on automation where it creates real business value
• Ability to document technical procedures clearly and establish governance
• Proactivity in evaluating and proposing new automation technologies

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a full-remote position and you are welcome to apply for this position ONLY if you live in PORTUGAL or in the EUROPEAN UNION. Unfortunately for this position we are unable to accept applicants from other countries/regions.

You may occasionally be required to work from a client site in the Greater Porto area for specific, planned projects. Please note this is not a hybrid working model and visits will be ad hoc.

This position is part of a long-term project.

Languages: In this role, work with both the FCamara team and the client will be conducted in English. As this will be your primary working language, it is a requirement that you are professionally proficient in this language.
