Promote standardization through informal leadership to enhance efficiency and reliability that improves value, outcomes, and equity.

Job Description

Compile and analyze information from various sources to understand measure methodology, specifications, calculations, and performance. Maintain knowledge on trends and changes in healthcare quality measurement. Review primary sources of information for regulatory changes and proactively prepare the organization for compliance. Recommend strategies for long term success in meeting regulatory requirements, avoiding penalties, and maximizing incentives across all programs. Maintain access to relevant data portals and ensure timely and accurate data submission by required deadlines. Utilize SAFE skills and reliable processes to decrease risk of human error with data submissions or workflows. Summarize data into information and communicate in a format and level of detail appropriate for the audience. Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend priorities that will have the most impact on overall performance. Lead or facilitate enterprise projects to achieve these objectives in collaboration with relevant teams in both operations and support services. Build strong relationships with key partners to informally influence change and promote standardization and efficiency. Communicate with senior corporate leadership, regional executive management, and quality and safety leadership teams. Collaborate with other departments as needed to modify workflows and reports to achieve objectives. Possess the ability to deal effectively with frontline staff, providers, leadership, and regulatory agencies.Apply skills in project management, change management, and Sanford's improvement methodology as needed. Seek efficient use of internal reports for monitoring ongoing performance and assessing effectiveness of improvement efforts. Investigate concerns with data integrity, completeness, or accuracy and take steps to resolve any identified issues. Prepare and deliver presentations to various audiences including enterprise and leadership teams. Represent Sanford through work with external vendors, government agencies and contractors, data exchange organizations, and other strategic partners. Responsibilities may include but is not limited to clarification of regulatory requirements, coordinating data exchange, submitting formal comments on regulatory programs and metrics, partnering on improvement projects, sharing best practices, working on a grant, or advocating for change based on Sanford's unique experience or perspectives. Maintain detailed knowledge of the electronic health record and the process of data flow through the system to achieve accurate reporting. Possess familiarity with the structure of healthcare systems, practice and utilization patterns in various healthcare settings is necessary. Acquire basic knowledge of billing, coding, and healthcare reimbursement must be developed. Demonstrates the ability to collect and organize detailed information. Seek out new information and knowledge and embrace new responsibilities and change in an autonomous and self-directed manner.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Minimum of five years’ experience in operational process improvement, clinical, data analytics or other relevant experience required.

Certification in a clinical specialty, quality, process improvement, or data analytics or equivalent preferred. If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Quality improvement/assurance personnel with nursing backgrounds can maintain their license without seeking additional hours based on role’s responsibilities.
