GLT Senior Application Engineer – South America (Peru)

About the role

Purpose

The purpose of the Senior Application Engineer - South America is to provide metallurgical and mineral processing expertise to the customer-facing team for implementing Glycine Leaching Technology (GLT) processes in the South American region.  This includes providing technical expertise in the extraction and processing of minerals, supporting business development efforts to facilitate prospective adoption of GLT technologies, and serving as the principal contact between the customer-facing team and the final customer. It is accountable for all client documentation for the region.  This position will be based in Peru.

Role Accountabilities

The Senior Application Engineer reports directly to the GLT Technology Leader – South America, works within their designated region in the Mining and Process Solutions business, and is accountable for assisting customers in implementing and delivering the GlyCat technology in their area.  This will be done by providing any necessary technical support to its development and rollout.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and team support: Performance will be based on an individual’s leadership and professional relationships with other team members and externally with vendors/customers. Performance will be assessed on the quality of internal Innovation team relationships, mining solutions business relationships, and customers.

• Business Target Achievement: Responsible for technically supporting the achievement of regional business objectives.
• Technology Opportunities Identification: Supports sales by evaluating the quantum of opportunity and the sales fit.  Responsible to extract relevant technical information from customers that enables Operations to develop appropriate solutions.

• Engagement Cycle Stewardship:  Works closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical input to shepherd customers’ expectations, ensuring continuous engagement through the license and beyond.

• Technology Project Implementation Input: Provides expert-level technical guidance and supports clients and internal teams to drive business outcomes.

• Customer Value Realization: Influences technical personnel in customer business, driving profitability and value.
• Stakeholder Relationship Management: Identifies, builds, and nurtures relationships with existing and potential customers.  Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with internal teams and relevant stakeholders.
• Financial Management:  Monitor expenses, ensuring expenditure is within approved budgets and the Delegation of Authority.
• Reporting and Approvals: Creates the draft proposals for internal stakeholder approval.  Approves the leaching conditions needed to undertake the test work and is the final approver for all test work plans.  Presents technical presentations to the customer.  Provides final approval for all technical documentation for allocated customers.

Skills and experience

• Bachelor's and preferably master’s Level qualification in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering.

• Professional Proficiency in MS Office
• Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish and ideally in English.
• Ability to travel internationally for business. This is expected to be up to 50% of workable days per year.
• Must have the appropriate working rights in Peru with the ability to travel overseas for business assignments.
• Ability to work autonomously and must have excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Deep understanding of industrial metals recovery processes, metallurgy of metals, and plant standard conditions
• Metallurgical laboratory experience, testing designs, and data analytical skills.
• Good understanding of the operational aspects and recovery process for precious and base metals.

• At least 10+ years of relevant post-graduate full-time work experience, with a minimum of 5 years in an operational role on a gold mine site and preferably 3+ years in a metallurgical Laboratory. Must know how to provide technical support for new leaching technologies in the sales business.

Ability to work autonomously, and must have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to represent Draslovka.
