Summary

Responsible for identifying, developing, and presenting highly complex strategic opportunities in support of the category management lifecycle for pharmaceutical products and/or services. Serves as a strategic trusted advisor to internal customers and the Category Management team by providing decision support and recommendations across multiple clinical and/or business lines. Cultivates potentially transformative relationships with suppliers and service lines which maximize value and performance. Leads contract and procurement negotiation activities to include financial value and business terms and conditions for products and/or services. Serves as a leader in the planning and execution of projects supporting Category Management team processes and competencies. Optimizes results through cross-functional collaboration and mastery of strategic sourcing and product/service contracting practices.

Job Description

Identifies and develops strategic opportunities to present to Category Management leadership and key stakeholders. This includes leading collaborative efforts with other Supply Chain functions and resources. Applies strategic negotiation skills to achieve additional value beyond product and/or service pricing. Responsible for strategic contract negotiations to include financial value and business terms and conditions of various products and/or services across multiple business lines according to clinical and operational requirements. Initiates, develops, and manages Request For Proposals (RFP) on identified strategic opportunities. Works with other Supply Chain resources to analyze, interpret, and translate data into communicable information for opportunities or impacts. Connects strategy to outcomes through an extensive understanding of organizational requirements and supplier motivations. Necessary skills include systems thinking, innovative negotiation, ability to influence, advanced project management, targeted communication, adaptability to a diverse portfolio of work, attention to detail, and knowledge of commonly used Microsoft Office functions. Utilizes a collaborative team-centered approach to forming and maintaining positive working relationships. Participates and may lead in development and continuous improvement of Category Management processes. Adheres to federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to contracting and procurement of equipment, supplies, and services. Plans and implements recurring work using established procedures, conferring with Category Management leadership as necessary.

Qualifications

PharmD required. Master’s degree preferred.

A minimum of five years related experience required of progressive sourcing and contract negotiation experience, including extensive experience developing and executing strategic sourcing plans, or equivalent experience in a project management or business advisory role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required. In lieu of five years’ experience, consideration would be given to an applicant who has experience as a pharmacy Director, Manager, or Clinical Coordinator evaluating clinical savings and contracting opportunities.

License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Supply Chain, project management, or contract certification desired.
