Job description

OSC EdgeTech, LLC is seeking a talented Senior Application Architecture Engineer to join the team. 


OSC EdgeTech is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), an Alaska Native Corporation proudly owned by over 9,400 Shareholders. OSC EdgeTech was created to deliver agile, responsive IT solutions to meet the evolving needs of federal and defense customers. Cook Inlet Region, Inc., also known as CIRI, is one of 12 land-based Alaska Native regional corporations created pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). CIRI’s regional boundaries roughly follow the traditional Dena’ina territory of Southcentral Alaska. CIRI was incorporated on June 8, 1972, and is owned today by a diverse group of more than 9,500 Shareholders who live in Alaska and throughout the world.

Position Overview

The Senior Application Architecture Engineer provides enterprise-level application and data-flow architecture support for government IT systems. This role is responsible for mapping application interdependencies, designing secure and scalable application ecosystems, documenting data movement, and aligning application architectures with enterprise standards and mission objectives.

 

The individual serves as the technical authority for application integration, system interoperability, and modernization initiatives.


Major Activities

  • Lead enterprise application and data architecture planning and design
  • Perform quarterly assessments of application ecosystems and system integrations
  • Conduct discovery of application dependencies, interfaces, and data exchanges
  • Develop and maintain layered application architecture documentation including:
    • Conceptual system views
    • Logical application architectures
    • Physical deployment models
    • Data flow diagrams
  • Design secure, scalable, and resilient application environments
  • Architect API frameworks, middleware, and integration platforms
  • Support modernization, cloud migration, and system consolidation efforts
  • Evaluate legacy systems and recommend modernization strategies
  • Design application redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery architectures
  • Support DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD integrations
  • Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, RMF, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with network, database, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams
  • Support system change reviews and technical governance boards
  • Provide impact analysis for proposed system changes
  • Maintain enterprise application standards and reference architectures
  • Support incident response and root cause analysis related to application failures
  • Present architecture assessments and recommendations to leadership
  • Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.

    • Multi-tier application architectures
    • Microservices and service-oriented architectures
    • API management and integration platforms
    • Database-driven applications
    • Messaging and middleware platforms
  • Proficiency with architecture modeling tools
  • Ability to translate mission requirements into technical architecture
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others.
  • Superior organizational, follow-up, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Work independently, as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to research, organize and analyze technical information with particular attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and industry-standard computer software and databases.
  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.


Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient fine motor skills for the use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
  • Visual and communications ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to travel by vehicle or aircraft, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture and engineering.
  • CompTIA Security+ or higher
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale government or enterprise systems.
  • Experience with:
    • Cloud and hybrid application environments
    • Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes / Openshift)
    • Virtualized application platforms
    • Enterprise data integration
  • Experience supporting RMF, STIG, and NIST requirements
  • Strong technical writing and briefing skills
  • Active U.S. Government Clearance or ability to obtain
  • Must be U.S. citizen 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Information Technology or related field
  • TOGAF
  • AWS/Azure/GCP Architect Certifications
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • CISSP
  • ITIL
