Summary Objective
The Director of Service Sales is a leadership role responsible for setting and executing the commissioning strategy for complex data center projects and related infrastructure deployments. This position leads end-to-end commissioning activities across planning, pre-commissioning, testing, validation, startup, handover, and early operations support to ensure systems, data assets, and operational processes are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with customer requirements.
This leader drives operational excellence across commissioning, service delivery, quality, safety, subcontractor performance, and resource planning. The role requires strong technical depth, executive presence, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in high-growth, high-complexity environments.
Essential Functions
Commissioning Strategy and Execution
- Lead the full lifecycle of data center commissioning activities, including planning, pre-functional checks, integrated systems testing, validation, turnover, and final handover to operations or clients.
- Develop and implement commissioning standards, methods, quality protocols, and best practices across multiple projects and programs.
- Partner with project management, engineering, construction, and service teams to align commissioning execution with overall project milestones and startup requirements.
- Drive consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement in commissioning delivery across the organization.
Operations and Service Leadership
- Forecast labor, staffing, and resource needs across project execution and ongoing service operations.
- Build operating rhythms, escalation processes, and performance standards that support reliable execution and strong customer outcomes.
- Ensure delivery models support schedule commitments, operational readiness, customer satisfaction, and margin performance.
Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Establish and maintain a strong quality culture across commissioning and service execution.
- Drive process discipline, audit readiness, and compliance with applicable standards, including support for ISO 9001 preparation and ongoing compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, safety expectations, and company operational standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to system integration, commissioning readiness, data integrity, subcontractor performance, scope gaps, and project schedules.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions when issues arise during testing, startup, or operational turnover.
Stakeholder and Client Leadership
- Serve as the senior point of leadership for commissioning activities with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, vendors, and clients.
- Align commissioning strategy and execution plans with project goals, business objectives, and customer deliverables.
- Provide clear executive-level reporting on project status, risks, labor outlook, quality metrics, and operational performance.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex commissioning issues into business-relevant decisions and actions.
Vendor and Subcontractor Management
- Partner with Procurement to ensure sourcing strategies align with schedule, cost, and execution needs.
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices and support effective financial management of outsourced work.
- Hold external partners accountable for safety, quality, responsiveness, and execution performance.
Team Leadership and Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commissioning and services organization, including service leadership, commissioning managers, and field technicians.
- Build a culture of accountability, responsiveness, technical excellence, collaboration, and customer focus.
- Strengthen organizational capability, succession depth, and leadership bench strength as the business scales.
- Promote professional development and technical growth across the team.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Travel
Anticipated up to 15% travel for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary. Occasional travel to customer job sites and conferences may be required.
Required Education and Experience.
- Bachelorβs degree in engineering, Construction Management, Building Systems, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Significant leadership experience in data center commissioning, mission critical environments, building systems startup, or complex infrastructure execution.
- Strong technical background in commissioning, controls, data systems, automation, electrical/mechanical systems, or related engineering disciplines.
- Proven success leading large-scale, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders, tight timelines, and high customer expectations.
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including labor forecasting, subcontractor management, and margin awareness.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality, compliance, safety, and process improvement initiatives.
