Medical Director, Behavioral Health

What You Will Do:

• Provide clinical oversight and consultation for behavioral health programs and initiatives
• Serve as a subject matter expert and clinical authority on behavioral health issues
• Partner with CMOs, Medical Directors, and leadership to develop and implement integrated care strategies
• Conduct medical necessity reviews and participate in peer-to-peer consultations
• Support clinical case reviews, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
• Advise utilization management, quality management, case management, and disease management teams
• Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to improve clinical outcomes and practice patterns
• Participate in committees, projects, and cross-functional initiatives supporting medical management programs
• Provide clinical guidance and supervision to behavioral health staff and team coordinators

• Demonstrated ability to influence clinical decision-making and drive quality improvement initiatives
• Experience operating as a senior clinical advisor to executive leadership
• Ability to function effectively within a matrixed, managed care environment
• Strong clinical judgment in utilization and medical necessity determinations
• Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on clinical consultation

What You Will Bring:

• MD or DO with a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States
• Board Certification in Psychiatry
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience
• Minimum of 5 years of medical management experience within a managed care environment
• Experience with utilization management, quality management, case management, and disease management
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Department of Defense clearance
• Strong knowledge of managed behavioral health, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards
• Preferred: experience with TRICARE, VA, or other government healthcare programs
• Preferred: advanced training or certification in medical management
