Job Description
The Technical Product Owner (TPO) is responsible for driving solution definition and delivery for the Workflow Orchestration Initiative, enabling enterprise workflow automation and integration capabilities using platforms such as Appian. This role translates business requirements into clear, testable, and actionable user stories for backend, workflow, and integration engineering teams.
The TPO will support the Payment BU Workflow Intelligence and Optimization Initiative, working closely with product managers, architects, and engineering teams (Java, AI, and workflow specialists) to ensure alignment between business goals and technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and analysis sessions
Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to define scalable workflow and integration solutions
Create, maintain, and refine epics, features, and user stories for workflow and backend systems
Manage and prioritize product and sprint backlogs, ensuring readiness for PI Planning and Agile ceremonies
Define clear acceptance criteria and validate completed user stories during sprint reviews
Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clarity in workflows, APIs, integrations, and system behavior
Support workflow modernization and automation initiatives aligned with enterprise objectives
Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, PI planning)
Perform additional duties and special projects as required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner or Business Analyst in enterprise software environments
Strong ability to quickly understand complex business domains; Healthcare experience is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical and business concepts clearly
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite (or similar tools)
Preferred experience in Agile / SAFe delivery environments
Familiarity with workflow modeling, system design, and enterprise integrations
Preferred Technical Knowledge
Basic understanding of SQL
Familiarity with APIs (REST/SOAP), JSON, XML
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and integration concepts
Exposure to workflow platforms such as Appian or similar tools
Understanding of backend systems and microservices (Java-based environments preferred)
Exposure to AI/automation concepts is an advantage
