Job description
Position Summary The GIS Analyst/Cartographer supports geospatial production by extracting, analyzing, and validating topographic and thematic features from imagery and other geospatial sources. This role performs feature data extraction, GIS-based analysis, and cartographic map production in a time-sensitive, quality-driven production environment. The position also supports homeland security mission needs through research, analysis, and geospatial products that inform operational and strategic decisions. Key Responsibilities
Perform feature data extraction from imagery and other sources to collect topographic features such as roads, rivers, buildings, and related geographic content.
Produce geospatial and cartographic products using GIS tools, including map creation, compilation, editing, and basic visualization.
Conduct standard GIS analysis methods and validate results to meet defined production quality standards.
Manage, interpret, and organize GIS datasets, ensuring accurate attribution and consistent data formatting.
Prepare concise presentations, summaries, and visual products that communicate analysis results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Support homeland security mission areas through targeted geospatial research and analysis, such as critical infrastructure protection, flood risk modeling, and law enforcement operations support.
Participate in technical exchanges, demonstrations, and briefings to present methodologies, outputs, and findings.
Meet or exceed productivity milestones, including completing tasks within estimated hours and adhering to required quality metrics.

Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field with multiple GIS-focused courses, or equivalent professional GIS experience.

Ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting schedule, milestone, and quality expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience directly supporting the Janus Geography contract performing feature data extraction (highly preferred).
Prior experience consistently completing feature extraction tasks within estimated hours while meeting quality requirements.
Experience supporting mission-focused analysis (e.g., critical infrastructure, flood risk, law enforcement operations) through geospatial products and research.
Work Environment and Remote Requirements
Remote position. Employees will use their personal computer and internet connection to remotely access an assigned B&A computer.
Work is primarily sedentary and requires extended periods (at least 8 hours per day) at a computer performing detailed imagery review and GIS production tasks.
May require working more than 40 hours per week as needed to meet deadlines.
