Quality Assurance (QA) Manager – Job Description

Role Overview

The QA Manager is responsible for leading the quality assurance function, ensuring that software products meet defined standards of quality, reliability, and performance. This role involves managing QA teams, defining testing strategies, and driving continuous improvement in testing processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA analysts and engineers
  • Define and implement QA strategies, standards, and best practices
  • Oversee test planning, execution, and delivery timelines
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders
  • Establish and improve test automation frameworks and processes
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics, KPIs, and defect trends
  • Ensure thorough functional, regression, integration, performance, and UAT testing
  • Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in QA processes
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies
  • Participate in release planning and go/no-go decisions

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 7–12+ years of experience in software testing/QA
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
  • Solid understanding of automation testing frameworks
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress)
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured)
  • ISTQB or similar certification
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
