Who we are

The Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences (VIBS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) carries out teaching, research, and service across a wide spectrum of biosciences, including epidemiology and public health, genetics and genomics, neuroscience, and reproduction and development.

What you need to know

The Research Specialist III will conduct preliminary research including systematic literature review and data analysis on the impact of global change and insect and food security.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.   
  • Eight years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.   

Other Requirements and Factors

  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
  • This position may require up to 25% or more travel
  • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends
  • This position will be 100% remote
  • This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TAMU does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role
  • This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position will be for 4.5 months.

Data Analysis and Testing

Assists with the planning and direction of specific phases of research project.

Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reviews semi-complex data and metadata.

May collect samples and measurements for experiments. 

Provides research expertise.

Reviews, audits, and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials. 

Computes projections. 

Performs analysis and tests. 

Makes and records observations and scientific measurements.

Audits protocols.

Research Publications

Utilizes summarized results in scientific and/or clientele-oriented publications. 

Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies and maintains financial accounts related to research projects.
