Hippocratic AI

Hippocratic AI is building a safety focused large language model (LLM) for the healthcare industry. We believe that generative AI has the potential to massively increase healthcare access the world over but has to be built and tested responsibly. Like the Hippocratic oath that doctors take we are building a model that aims to “Do no Harm.” Hippocratic AI’s model is tuned for the healthcare industry in three ways: 1. Certifications: It was trained to pass not just the USMLE but rather to pass 114 different detailed certifications. Furthermore, beat open AI’s GPT-4 on 105 of the certifications (tied on 6 and only lost on 3) 2. Bedside Manner: Specifically trained to have a great bedside manner. In healthcare delivery, how you say something to a patient is as important as what you say. The company developed a novel benchmark and beat all other commercial LLMs on this measure of bedside manner. 3. RHLF’d by Healthcare Professionals: RLHF is the process of tuning a model and is a technique credited with must of the success of ChatGPT. Hippocratic is using the exact healthcare professions that conduct each role today to QA and train the model. The company raised a $50MM seed round from is A16z and General Catalyst and is founded by hospital administrators, doctors, medicare experts, and LLM researchers.

About the Role

We're looking for an Integration Engineer to help bridge healthcare data systems with our clinical AI platform. You'll work at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, system design, and data engineering — connecting EHRs, APIs, and analytics pipelines that make our AI models work at scale.

In this role, you'll collaborate with delivery leads, product managers, and customer engineers to design and build reliable integrations using modern interoperability standards. Most of your work will involve Python-based data transformation and interface development, integrating with HL7 v2, FHIR, and RESTful APIs. You'll also coordinate with offshore engineers to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

You'll have the opportunity to shape our integration framework, define reusable patterns, and improve performance and reliability across the platform.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain healthcare data integrations using Python, HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, and SQL.

  • Collaborate with product and delivery teams to translate requirements into scalable, testable integration flows.

  • Coordinate with offshore teams on implementation, review, and QA.

  • Monitor and optimize performance across live integrations, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.

  • Contribute to reusable components and integration templates that improve delivery efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and ensure smooth resolution.

  • This role requires a minimum of 20-40% travel, which may include overnight or out-of-state trips.

What You Bring

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare integration or interoperability engineering.

  • Strong understanding of HL7 v2, FHIR, and X12 standards.

  • Hands-on experience with Python and at least one integration engine (Mirth, Rhapsody, InterSystems IRIS, or Redox).

  • Comfortable working with RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong ownership mindset with attention to reliability, scalability, and quality

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with EHR APIs (Epic, Cerner, AthenaOne, or similar).

  • Knowledge of FHIR bulk data workflows.

  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), or cloud-based deployment pipelines.

  • Background in AI/ML data pipelines or healthcare analytics.

Join us and help build the future of safe, life-changing AI in healthcare. There’s never been a more exciting moment to make an impact.
