Job description

The Role

FinStrat Management (“FSM”) is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a client-facing Senior Accounting Manager. This is a full-time role, managing accounting operations and financial reporting for a number of FSM clients. This is a great opportunity to build a team, implement best practices, and help scale both the company and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of FSM staff accountants; planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions for clients
  • Take ownership of the monthly financial close, reconciliation of accounts and G/L analysis for clients (key accounts such as revenue, unearned revenue, and accrued expenses)
  • Prepare month-end reporting package with financial statements and variance analysis for clients
  • Review and ensure journal entries are posted accurately
  • Review and ensure client GL accounts are accurately reconciled
  • Manage clients’ back office finance functions (e.g., A/R, A/P, payroll, etc.)
  • Assess clients’ current account operations, make recommendations for improvement and implementing new systems and processes
  • Ensure deliverables meet the firm’s quality standards
  • Identify and communicate engagement matters to clients, managers and partners
  • Provide five-star client service

Job Requirements

Professional background

  • Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and account reconciliations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Revenue Recognition (i.e. ASC 606)
  • Outstanding technology and systems skills
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • CPA preferred but is not required (the company will reimburse exam costs following successful completion)
