We are seeking a Vice President, Clinical Consulting & Advocacy to serve as a clinical advisor within Alera Group’s Health Analytics practice, helping employer clients better understand healthcare cost drivers, claims trends, and opportunities to improve outcomes while managing costs. This unique role blends clinical expertise, healthcare analytics, and client consulting, requiring a strong clinical foundation along with the ability to translate complex healthcare information into clear, actionable business recommendations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative clinician who is comfortable reviewing high-cost claims activity, partnering with carriers and vendors, and presenting findings and strategic recommendations to employer leadership teams.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Consulting & Strategic Advisory
- Serve as a trusted clinical advisor to employer clients, helping them better understand healthcare cost drivers, claims trends, and opportunities to improve outcomes while managing costs
- Review and interpret clinical and healthcare claims data, including high-cost claimant activity, utilization trends, and potential cost-containment opportunities
- Develop and implement analytics-driven clinical strategies that support improved health outcomes, employee engagement, and cost management
- Translate complex clinical information into clear, actionable recommendations for employer leadership teams
- Serve as a clinical resource for client engagements and broader strategic consulting initiatives
- Conduct assessments of carriers, vendors, digital health solutions, and clinical point solutions
Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and collaborative guidance to clinical consultants, advocates, analysts, and internal partners
- Partner cross-functionally with health analytics, benefits consulting, and client service teams to deliver impactful client solutions
- Foster a highly collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Support the development of clinical consulting methodologies, tools, and best practices
Innovation, Vendor Strategy & Market Expertise
- Support initiatives involving worksite clinics, health coaching, captives, MEWAs, and alternative healthcare delivery models
- Develop expertise in emerging healthcare solutions, including virtual care, oncology management, primary care innovation, specialty care strategies, and centers of excellence
- Stay current on healthcare trends, regulatory developments, claims innovation, and market best practices
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Participate in RFPs, prospect conversations, and strategic business development initiatives
- Present clinical insights, recommendations, and healthcare strategies to employer leadership teams, executive stakeholders, and industry audiences
- Support thought leadership efforts through white papers, presentations, FAQs, educational content, and market-facing resources
- Represent Alera Group at client meetings, industry conferences, and relevant events
Qualifications:
Required
- Active U.S. clinical licensure required (Registered Nurse (RN) minimum; advanced clinical licensure such as Nurse Practitioner (NP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Physician Assistant (PA) strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of clinical experience, including direct patient care, case management, utilization review, payer-side clinical operations, clinical consulting, or related healthcare experience
- Experience interpreting healthcare claims, utilization trends, clinical data, or population health analytics to develop strategic recommendations
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex clinical information into clear, actionable recommendations for executive and non-clinical audiences
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and sound clinical judgment
- High degree of professionalism, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and client focus
Preferred
- Experience within employee benefits, self-funded health plans, health insurance carriers, TPAs, stop loss environments, or broader payer-side healthcare operations
- Experience consulting with employers on healthcare cost management, population health strategy, employee wellbeing, or clinical program development
- Experience reviewing high-cost claimant activity, utilization trends, cost-containment opportunities, or claims optimization strategies
- Experience supporting captives, MEWAs, onsite clinics, health coaching initiatives, or alternative healthcare delivery models
- Background in healthcare consulting, population health, care management, payer/provider strategy, or employer health management
- Familiarity with digital health solutions, clinical innovation, virtual care, or healthcare point-solution evaluation
- Experience presenting to executive leadership teams, employer clients, or industry audiences
Additional Information:
Compensation
Salary Range: $100,000 – $200,000 annually
Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the role.
