Roles & Responsibilities

  • BS or BA degree with 7–10 years of financial analysis, loan structuring, underwriting and portfolio management experience; 3–5 years SBA lending administration.
  • Ability to analyze and spread financial statements and cash flows, and to make timely sound loan decisions using Moody’s or Baker Hill software.
  • Extensive knowledge of SBA loan programs, SOPs, and credit regulations; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with 360 View, Navigator, Director, nCino, and Statement Analyzer; strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Requirements:

  • Review loan documents, spread and analyze financial statements, identify strengths and weaknesses, and prepare credit analysis packages for approval with limited supervision.
  • Serve as secondary client contact for loans within the UCB footprint; evaluate and decide SBA Express Lines of Credit renewals; actively manage past-due accounts to minimize losses.
  • Mentor SBA Servicing Portfolio Specialists and review portfolio loans approaching maturity; manage red flags and early warning signals; coordinate plans with clients, bankers, and Special Assets as needed.
  • Assist with completing the initial CAR for transition to the Special Assets Department; perform annual reviews of borrowing relationships; participate in special projects and required compliance training.

Job description

Overview:

Responsible for ensuring the portfolio achieves soundness, probability, and growth objectives. Provides portfolio management, credit, underwriting, and sales support for the SBA function. Identifies, quantifies and mitigates underwriting risks inherent in an SBA lending function. Responsible for analysis of new SBA credit opportunities, underwrite and collect client financial information.

What You’ll Do:
  • Must be able to review loan documents, spread, analyze, and interpret businesses and financial statements
  • Must be able to identify strengths and weaknesses of individual requests and make recommendations to address and mitigate perceived risks
  • Must prepare and be able to present credit analysis packages through the credit approval chain with limited supervision
  • Serve as secondary contact on client relationships for loan within the UCB branch footprint
  • Evaluate and decision loan renewal requests for SBA Express Lines of Credit
  • Actively manage past dues to minimize late payments
  • Mentors SBA Servicing Portfolio Specialists and other Servicing team members
  • Review portfolio loans approaching maturity and works with clients and/or bankers to get the necessary data in order to make an informed renewal decision
  • Manage the loan portfolio for red flags and early warning signals of potential problem loans.
  • Work directly with clients and/or with UCB bankers or Special Assets Officers to devise an appropriate plan of action if/when the SBA loan is downgraded
  • Assist with completing the initial CAR in preparation for the loan to transition to the Special Assets Department.
  • Complete an annual review on all borrowing relationships within the portfolios as outlined in the SBA Loan Monitoring procedures
  • Complete any special project work
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements For Success:
  • BS or BA degree, 7 – 10 years of solid experience in financial analysis, loan structuring, analytical skills with problem solving abilities, underwriting and portfolio management preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in SBA lending administration
  • Ability to assume responsibility and maintain accountability for decision making
  • Ability to make sound loan decisions in a timely manner
  • Must be very organized, detailed-oriented, and proactive with excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to spread an analyze business and personal financial statements and cash flow, gather relevant information, and make appropriate recommendations utilizing Moody’s or Baker Hill software
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, and mitigating factors for each servicing request
  • Extensive knowledge of SBA loan programs and corresponding SOP’s and credit related regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills facilitating maximization of working relationships with customers, SBA team members and UCB bankers
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written). Must be able to write clearly and effectively, and be able to communicate one-on-one and in groups
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of 360 View, Navigator, Director, nCino and Statement Analyzer
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

 

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 10% travel.
