Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Prepare, review, and finalize complex Medicaid cost reports and supplemental payment program filings (e.g., GEMT, ASPP, or similar programs), ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Analyze revenues and expenditures to determine appropriate classification, allowability, and allocation for cost reporting purposes.

  • Research and interpret accounting guidance, program regulations, and cost principles (e.g., Uniform Guidance) to support proper reporting and audit responses.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances, trends, and unusual transactions.

  • Coordinate with clients to obtain supporting documentation, clarify transaction details, and resolve discrepancies.

  • Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, workpapers, and written explanations.

  • Document accounting conclusions and methodologies to support transparency and audit readiness.

  • Support process improvements related to cost reporting, reconciliations, financial controls, and policy and procedures.

  • Communicate on a regular basis with clients via meetings and email.

·        Responsibilities may change as the department and PCG grow and as deemed necessary by management.

 Required Skills 

 

·        Ability to analyze account fluctuations and year-to-year variances.

·        Ability to identify unusual items or issues and to correct them going forward. 

·        Ensure reporting is consistent with generally accepted accounting (GAAP) and government accounting standard board (GASB) principles. 

·        Effective ability to prioritize and manage multiple activity streams. 

·       Excellent organizational skills, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and clearly communicate conclusions in writing and verbally.

  • Strong written communication skills for workpapers and audit responses.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).

  • Possess discretion to work with confidential information. 

Qualifications 

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

·       Experience with Medicare regulations and reimbursement manual.

·       Experience with applicable Federal and State Medicaid policies and regulations relating to healthcare reimbursement.

  • Experience working with audits and regulatory reviews.

·       Minimum 2-4 years with accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years’ experience with Medicaid and/or Medicare cost reports, grant reporting, or regulated reimbursement programs.

  • Familiarity with government accounting principles

  • CPA or progress toward CPA licensure.

Compensation:

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.  As required by applicable law, PCG provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.

Range: $92,000 - $102,000

PCG does not sponsor newly hired foreign national workers for work authorization, including H-1B sponsorship.
